Baking, SHQ Show & Tell

Michael was up at 6 AM Wednesday (5/24) and I was up with him so that I could make his breakfast. He left at 7 AM for the first of a 2 day golf tournament. I went back to bed, hoping to fall back asleep, but that didn’t work so I hopped back up. I tried to feed the dog, but couldn’t manage the can opener (I hate the arthritis in my hands), luckily my neighbors were up and between the two of us, we got it open. I fed Cookie and got my blog out (a really short one…sorry) before SKYPE-ing with Janice at 9 AM. As we ended talking, I got some bad news…my across the street neighbor had a heart attack while he was in the hospital and died. I spent a bit of time notifying others, and when my honey came home at 2 PM, we talked about it as well. I spent a bit of time in the kitchen after that….the freezer was getting too full of overripe bananas, so I had thawed 6 of them out overnight to make 2 loaves of banana bread (some of which we shared with a neighbor):

-you can see I had a bit of trouble with one of them sticking in the pan. But I LOVE my pans that made long skinny loaves....perfect for tea sized slices

And, the banquet for Michael’s golf tournament is Friday night, and one of the wives wanted to organize a Pittsburgh cookie table, so I made 45 Baklava Cookies:

and got them boxed up and delivered.

Apparently, Leila’s been working on pillowcases too!

Some of these will be gifted to friends.

Thursday (5/25) was all about golfing and quilting. Michael once again left shortly after 7 AM for the second day of the tournament, and I headed off to quilting. Once again I didn’t take my machine as I am still organizing and folding fabric from the closet. I think it will only take one more week to have it all done. We had a bit of show and tell:

-BG recognize "L" patriotic? I think her sides are wider than we usually do

-I love this Hunter's Star...I would never have put those fabrics together...but it was very beautiful!

Loree & Robin taught a bullseye class at the beginning of May, and June got hers laid out...I LOVE it!!!

I was home by 12:30 PM, had a bite of lunch and straightened up the kitchen before leaving for my chiro appointment. I was home again by 3 PM and my honey was just getting home as well. He and his partner came in 5th in their flight and ended up winning 20 bucks apiece. Michael said he was hitting the ball really well, but his putts just weren’t dropping.

I spent the rest of the afternoon reading my book and finally finishing it. THE MIDNIGHT LIBRARY by Matt Haig was an interesting book. It skewed a little young for me when I first started to read it, but the premise is totally intriguing and I really wanted to find out how it ended. I think anyone who has lived a life with some regrets (and isn’t that everyone?) would enjoy it. I want to take out some of his other books.

We were still cleaning up leftovers for dinner, and then binge watched 4 episodes of 9-1-1 in the evening….where Michael (as he always does) reminds me that he and Angela Basset are practically BFF’s due to the movie they were in together. GOSPEL HILL went straight to video…but we have a copy and he will gladly rent it out for a small fee :~).

Really loved all of the patriotic quilts and especially the Hunter's Star quilt! I love that sage green and light pink combination. What is a Pittsburgh cookie table? Will you share the Baklava cookie recipe? They look very similar to Pecan Tassies. I am very sorry to hear about your neighbor.

So many quilts! I love the shark fabric on the pillowcases. I have no idea what a Pittsburgh cookie table is...Can totally relate to the can opener issue. I can no longer open the cat food packets without using scissors.

Sorry to hear about your neighbor.

I get the blog from the blog site, no problems. Sorry about your neighbor, I love the hunter star and June’s bullseye, I would have never thought of using the fabrics she did
