We had a wonderful visitor on Monday (6/24); Edee:

used to live in SCCL, moved to Germany during the dark presidential years, and is now back in Hendersonville. She’s a very interesting person, always looking to give back. While she was in Germany, she went to a volunteer/job fair and ended up teaching German to Ukrainian refugees….lots of women mostly, but at the end they had a young boy, struggling in school, and asked if she would work with him. With all of these people, she was starting literally from scratch, as they only know the Cyrillic alphabet…so she had to start with the Arabic alphabet we all use. Artem calls her once a week to this day to tell her all about how he’s doing:

She visited with us for several hours and we had a delightful lunch at PANERA and sat and talked and talked and talked! She definitely misses being able to be in community theatre productions (nothing around where she lives) and is trying to decide if she is staying there or will move someplace else. It was wonderful to re-connect, and once she headed back home, I headed to the studio and got both of my tablecloths cleaned up and off of the frame….at least at this angle you can see the quilting stitching:

After that I started to load up my customer quilt:

I got it loaded before joining my honey upstairs….we were both still full from lunch, so we just skipped dinner and I continued knitting on the shawl collar of my shrug while we watched TV.

Tuesday (6/25) was all about my customer quilt. I really do try for a 2 week or less turnaround on my quilts. Even though I told my customer I had 3 quilts ahead of her when she dropped it off….today is day 15 since I got it, and I was determined to get it done. To help out, of course my honey brought me breakfast:

Of course….since I was under the gun, I had a problem with my tension:

and had to rip out quite a bit…:~(. I finally finished up around 4 PM (thank goodness it was a relatively small quilt....and she doesn't like very dense quilting) and started to clean it up:

In the meantime, I was texting back and forth with Pat….who is at MSQC….aka Missouri Star!!!! She is looking at fabric to make the same quilt BG and I made when she was here (you know, Teal Splendor). There are several of us who will be doing a smaller size at the Fiber Floozie retreat this year, and this is the range she was looking in:

I’m gonna LOVE it!!!
At 5 PM I headed to Pam R’s for dinner and socializing….what a wonderful evening, and I beat my honey home (he was out at the movies) by just 20 minutes.
And we’ve had several people in Scrap Happy have surgery lately, so I thought some cards could help to cheer them up….I got 3 cards done (this was the secret project from last week) and Pam S sent them out from the group:

*** If electricity comes from electrons, does morality come from morons? ***
*** How did the man who made the first clock....know what time it was? ***
Beautiful cards !!! Great job Edee !!
Gosh, I love the mint green quilt!
Thank you, Deb, for creating the beautiful cards for our group.
I love your customer's quilt colors, especially the light mint green! Pat's colors for her quilt are GORGEOUS!
You ask great questions !
