I spent part of Monday morning (2/5) getting caught up on blogs….and then getting my first king sized quilt fully loaded….bigger is NOT better….everything takes so much longer!!! AND, I definitely need to buy more of the pins I use to pin the backing onto my leaders….I used all of mine, and don’t even have any left to use to gather my threads when the bobbin runs out! But finally it was done….
I wound a ton of bobbins and kicked things off, and got half way through the first row before it was time to head out for Michael’s appointment at Ortho Carolina.
It’s been 4 weeks since his fall, and we are both pleased to say he went from this:
to this:
He does not have to wear the boot any longer, even though the doctor said it really takes 12 full weeks for broken bones to heal…but he has an excellent brace for his ankle. The doctor said the only bad thing that could happen is if Michael has another twisting fall....so he is definitely guarding against that, and probably won't play golf for the month of February either.
Once home, I started up the quilting again:
Each row of this design takes a bit more than 30 minutes to stitch out…and there are 17 rows…so that’s 8-1/2 hours of just needle time!!!
I worked on the quilt until I wolfed down 2 small pieces of leftover pizza for dinner before my honey drove me to knitting class. All 3 of the students that showed up have the backs of their sweaters done, and we have started on the fronts!! I am adding 3 cables to the fronts of their sweaters, and we will put 1 cable down each sleeve….I am so excited to watch them on this journey. I knit myself when I was finally home.
So, I don’t like to put pictures of myself in the blog for a variety of reasons, but one of them is that it seems show-off-y or brag-y, but I’m going to put one more in. I washed and blew dry my hair this morning, and I think I did a credible job without my hairdresser:
So, I guess this is a good hairstyle for me….even my knitting students noticed and approved!
And more from June:
An exasperated mother, whose son was always getting into mischief,
finally asked him 'How do you expect to get into Heaven?'
The boy thought it over and said, 'Well, I'll run in and out and in
and out and keep slamming the door until St. Peter says, 'For Heaven's
sake, Dylan, come in or stay out!''
One summer evening during a violent thunderstorm a mother was
tucking her son into bed. She was about to turn off the light when he
asked with a tremor in his voice, 'Mummy, will you sleep with me tonight?'
The mother smiled and gave him a reassuring hug.
'I can't dear,' she said. 'I have to sleep in Daddy's room.'
A long silence was broken at last by his shaky little voice:
'The big sissy.'
Wow, your hair looks great. It takes years off of you
Love your new hairstyle!
I agree, I like the length and I like the way it compliments your face
Great picture of you!
Applause on the nicely styled hair... I'm living in an every day bad-hair-day world at the moment. Between the change in the water, the change of geography, and the windy beach walks, a nice hairstyle seems to be a losing cause. Trying new cuts and products myself to tame the wild beast! LOL 😎 I'm sure I'll get it figured out eventually. Hope you are well otherwise. -- C
