Friday (7/7) was still kind of a blah day…I spent a lot of time sitting in my rocking chair….rocking away and thinking about Cookie.
But Friday night was just what both of us needed. We headed over to Diane & Mark’s and met another lovely couple Shelly & Chris. We spent the evening talking and playing PIT and TELESTRATIONS and I kid you not, at one point I thought I’d pee my pants from laughing so long and so hard. I can’t believe how much fun we had and how much we laughed….it was a really perfect evening.

I felt a little better Saturday morning (7/8), Michael left for golf and I headed to the studio and managed to get my striped quilt all loaded on XENA:
Diane stopped over to pay for her ticket to the next production at Fort Mill:
and we got to chat for quite a long time…it was delightful. She said she really appreciated having a lap kitty to pet, as her cat is a bit more standoffish.
I finally got myself going a little more in the late afternoon and made bread dough. I wanted some dough for dinner, so I made a regular sized loaf (since we didn’t have any bread in the house) and a baby loaf (that was just so adorable:
Michael ran it over to our neighbors and I used the rest of the dough for pizza for dinner:
-I guess I really need to learn to toss it to get it more even!
-a layer of homemade pesto, with those yummy fresh tomatoes on top
-then a layer of finely shredded parmesan
-mushrooms for Michael and onions for me...and then cubes of cheddar (because that's what we had available)
-so very yummy!!!
I haven’t made a totally homemade pizza for a long time, and Michael said it was fantastic :~).

I spent most of the day Sunday (7/9) quilting on XENA:
with snuggle-y company:
and by dinnertime, the quilting was done:
Look at the difference in colors in the 3 picture above....in truth, the quilt is very blue, much more like the bottom picture than the 2 top pictures.
I have another quilt to load up on this backing, but I’m not sure that will get done before we leave. We decided to open a bottle of champagne with our leftover pizza and toast to our Cookie’s life….even with 2 cats, the house seems very, very empty.
Remember several weeks ago I talked about a friend stopping by with important news that I couldn’t yet share? The friend was Anne:
and the news is wonderful for her, but sad for us. She will be moving to Florida in September…this is something she has wanted to do for a long time and we are happy for her, but sad for us.
We are leaving on our cruise tomorrow, Tuesday, and will NOT have texting access, but should have email access. We have a house and cat sitter and are grateful our babies won’t be alone. This will probably be the last post until several days after we return….I’m hoping to make it to quilting on July 27th…even though I’ll probably still be jet lagged.
