Memorial Weekend, Saturday & Sunday

My honey left for golf before 9 AM Saturday morning (5/25) and I headed to the studio, determined to work hard on Sandy’s quilt.  I kicked off the quilting, and also got my 8 strips cut for a border on my Beds = Dreams quilt…this is one of the reasons I don’t like to go on too many retreats….I do a lot of prep work….but then there’s a lot of work to be done when I get home to get everything finished.  For this first quilt:

I’ve gotta cut and sew a border, and cut and sew binding, and make a backing.

I got the border cut, sewed together and attached:

while getting to 75% done on Sandy’s quilt.

Michael and I got cleaned up just after dinner and headed to Susan’s for a fabulous night of games and socializing:

We met a new neighbor, Brent, and played SCREWED and GOLF before coming home around 10:30.  We sat and read in the living room until mid-night (and I put together overnight waffle batter) before heading to bed.

We slept in Sunday morning (5/26) then had a fabulous feast:

Michael cooked potatoes and bacon, and I made waffles and we lingered over breakfast and reading the paper and a book.  I didn’t make it to the studio until NOON!!

I worked mostly on Sandy’s quilt….and got it all quilted by dinnertime:

I also got the first 2 rows of Teal splendor sewn to each other…the sewing together wasn’t bad….pressing open the seam was horrible :~):

I cut out binding strips for my Beds=Dreams quilt and put them in my Thursday project box, and pieced a backing for it…..so I’ll be all ready to quilt it when my frame is empty of customer quilts!

And on the topic of ''what a difference finishing makes''....remember that art quilt I quilted a few weeks ago? My customer sent me a picture of it trimmed and bound....and I think it looks FABULOUS:

And my newest customer sent me a picture of hers as well....nicely done:

*** RED SKELTON'S RECIPES FOR THE PERFECT MARRIAGE

She ran after the garbage truck, yelling, "Am I too late for the garbage?" The driver said, "No, jump in!".

Remember: Marriage is the number one cause of divorce.

I married Miss Right. I just didn't know her first name was 'Always'. ***
