More candy making, QoV given out

Current US COVID related deaths: 808,244

US COVID deaths as of yesterday: 807,207

*************************************Her

I decided I needed to get 2 different candies made on Friday (12/3), since I didn’t do anything on Thursday….so I was up and at it relatively early. Ralph picked Michael up:

while I was in the throes of it for their LLB luncheon at THE BIG VIEW.

First up for me was dipping oreos:

followed by Minty Crisps:

Now….I just wanna say…I know we only buy oreos at Christmas time…but I SWEAR that white stuff used to go to the edge of the chocolate cookies:

didn’t it????? Do you see just how far INSIDE that white stuff is????

I was finished by 1:30, just in time for my honey to come home. I headed downstairs to work on my blog while Michael went to the store. He was home before 3 PM and I went upstairs to help him unpack, and then just hit a wall. It was GORGEOUS outside…over 70 degrees on the lanair, so I headed out to take a nap. I got a call about a half hour later from my neighbor’s son. Both neighbors have COVID, Evelyn is home and in bed, but Phil is in the hospital as his oxygen levels were just too low. I’ve talked to Evelyn twice asking about food, but she just stresses that it has to be food for a diabetic and is a bit hard to understand since her stroke, so I finally taped this note to the door:

Hi,

I’m your parent’s neighbor 3 doors down to the left as you face the house. I’m making a big pot of Italian Wedding Soup over the weekend, ingredients:

chicken stock

garlic

Italian seasoning

meatballs

celery

carrots

spinach

diced tomatoes

homemade pesto (basil and olive oil and garlic and pecans)

and I use whole grain barley instead of white pasta.

Is this something Evelyn can eat as a diabetic? May I drop some off on the porch over the weekend?

Pls call or text to let me know if you are interested.

Deb (and my cell phone)

Her son called and was thrilled to accept the offer of soup for dinner on Saturday, so I’ll hop up and get that in the crockpot in the morning.

By this time, Michael and Cookie were out for a walk, and I felt rested enough to head back downstairs. I finally got a blog out, then spent an hour cutting up some of my ‘’reclaimed fabric’’ into strip sizes that I could use. After that I got the other 2 strips of sashing sewn into my QoV (notice those cornerstones Diane....what was I so afraid of? Easy peasy....):

Speaking of QoV’s, I finally got a picture of my friend’s pastor, modeling one of the one’s I donated…she said he was thrilled and grateful to receive it:

*** Do not drink and wrap presents. Also, if anyone gets a remote control for Christmas, I’m gonna need that back. ***

Love the squares with the red sashing AND the blue cornerstones - turned out perfectly! You are such a great neighbor and are always doing something thoughtful for someone else. You are a joy, my friend!
