Oreo Bundt Cake, 2 totally finished quilts

I had an early morning doctor’s appointment on Wednesday (10/11), which was a pleasure for once….for those with diabetes, or who understand it…in 3 months I have lowered my A1C from 7.3 to 6.6, so my doc was extremely happy with me! When I got home, I had to take another picture of our front flower bed...the gift from Loree that keeps on giving....ever blooming iris:

When I got home, it was time to settle in to a long awaited SKYPE chat with Janice….who has been gone for 2 weeks on a river cruise. I heard all about it….and she had a FABULOUS time (as I knew she would!!!) We got all caught up on other stuff after that and as it was after NOON, we both needed to get moving on other stuff (for her it was mostly laundry :~).

We (the Thursday quilt group) are having our quilting veteran’s luncheon in November, and I wanted to take an Oreo Bundt cake as part of my contribution for lunch….however, my success rate with getting bundts out of the pan…with no breakage…is maybe 2% (or less), so I wanted to practice and try a few new things. I got it put together…and into the oven….and voila:

Total success!!!!! Then I mixed up some frosting with ground up oreo cookies and here it is:

I'm not sure I liked the color of the frosting, and I was talking it over with Susie at quilting...and she said was the original frosting white? I said yes, and she suggested that it might look better if I made a chocolate frosting with crushed up oreos in it....so that's what I'll do for next time.

We sent almost half of the cake down to our neighbors, and put the rest in the fridge for the frosting to firm up a bit. (I later got a text from the neighbor wife saying that her hubby had already had TWO pieces of it!!)

Michael left for rehearsal around 6 PM and I headed to the studio to get Pam’s second quilt loaded up…but I only managed to get the back loaded before pooping out. But sometime yesterday I finished cutting everything for the second Stair Step quilt, including 13 strips for binding them both, which I hope to put together at quilting on Thursday:

I have 2 totally finished quilts to show....I don't think I've shown them finished in the blog before...

These will both be dialysis quilts...and in a funny coincidence, a Thursday quilter was deperately trying to finish a quilt for a friend of hers who is starting dialysis....so I offered the second one to her...I'll take it next week!

And this is DEFINITELY ME:

I absolutely love both of your finished quilts, but the second one is a definite WOW! I LOVE the colors. I feel like I should be somewhere in the tropics sipping an umbrella drink. The Oreo cake looks fabulous! I wish you had taste-a-vision!
