On Monday (1/3) it was overcast and raining fiercely when we got up, but by NOON the sun was out! I was cutting again and got a 5th project into my project box….it was out of those same green/brown fabrics…but a different pattern than the first time. Then I put together a quick jelly roll project, to bring things up to 6. So I have these 6 projects: 3 QoV’s, 2 men’s quilts and 1 Beds=Dreams.
After that I had time to make a backing:
for this quilt:
before joining my honey for a late dinner of pierogis.

I got up on Tuesday (1/4). determined to get my second QoV basted….Arizona Mary will be here in a WEEK!!!!! And we’re going to quilt one of her quilts while she’s here….so I need XENA to be empty. While I was starting, I snapped this unusual site:
(They are RARELY together anymore….they used to sleep, cuddled together when they were babies….so cute….~sigh~). Anyway, I started to baste the second quilt:
Well….I have no idea where my brain was when I cut this double backing for 2 QoV’s, but it obviously wasn’t on what I was doing….because the backing ran out half way through the basting!!! What a disappointment….there was nothing to do, but rip out the basting and get the quilt off of the frame. That was a waste of a lot of time….I don’t know where I went off the rails…but I REALLY went off…not only did I not cut the right size…but I also loaded the backing the opposite way from how it was supposed to be loaded :~(. So, I ripped out the basting, put that quilt top away, and spent the rest of my day getting the first QoV all cleaned up and on the to-be-bound pile.
My honey made dinner again (spaghetti and meatballs) and we settled in for a bit of TV. I'll tell you...that mistake with the batting really threw me for a loop!
