Quilting, embroidery, piecing - the usual mixed bag

I loaded up the 3^rd QoV on Saturday morning (8/1), since my backing looked beautifully unwrinkled by then: 

It took me a long time to decide on a pattern….I really didn’t want to take away from the piecing pattern, and finally settled on a simple star pattern:

I was starving by 11 AM, and my honey made me another smurfy breakfast to keep me going:

When I was talking to Janice last Wednesday, she was laying out a series of blocks….I was so surprised to see them and I said ‘’hey – I made those same blocks….what happened to them?”  Well, I went right into one of my drawers and there they were :~).  Since I couldn’t do anything more than quilt on the 3^rd QoV, I started to get them laid out:

so that I could make a start on the sashing. 

Thunderstorms moved in, in the afternoon, so I shut down quilting, and started to look over some embroidery.  I’ve done my share of embroidered cards, but haven’t used some designs as I embroider directly on the card, and some of the designs I have are too dense and would punch holes in the cards.  One of the ladies at Machine Embroidery had a card at the last meeting, and she used a specific paper to embroider on, and then affixed it to her card.  She was kind enough to share all of the details with me and my paper came in last week.  I also loved her card design and she shared that with me as well, so, I got my paper all ready to go, but by then it was late afternoon and I was tired so I set it aside.

Michael warned me that thundershowers were predicted for early afternoon on Sunday (8/2) so I jumped right into quilting, and by lunchtime, my quilt was done:

After that I wanted a little something different, so I loaded up an embroidery design for a card and kicked it off.  The rest of the afternoon was my sometimes usual ADHD frenzy…finishing the top of an embroidery card….I LOVE IT:

My honey spent Monday morning (8/3) pulling together last minute packing and packing the car before leaving around 11 AM for his golf trip to Asheville. 

I worked on the label and binding for my 3^rd QoV:

and by dinnertime it was another totally finished quilt…here’s where the rubber meets the road….Michael complains that he doesn’t get enough credit for holding these quilts up for my pictures…and he’s right….who have I got now?!?!!?  Guess I’ll have to wait until Thursday when I have other people to help me to get a good picture. 

I made the high protein mac and cheese for my dinner….that ought to feed me for the next 4 nights :~). 

Michael arrived safely in Asheville and got in 9 holes of golf before coincidentally eating dinner at the same diner that Janice and I love to stop at for breakfast on our way to QUAP!!!

I loaded up Eileen’s quilt on Tuesday morning (8/4):

then had to run to the UPS store to get a document scanned and emailed.  I kicked off the quilting once I was back home, and while that stitched out all day (it’s a VERY long quilt), I continued to sew sashing in my newest blocks…the pattern of which is called Connections. 

I did stop in the early afternoon to fulfill a couple of DONOR”S CHOOSE requests for Clinton Elementary….this is where I spend the $$$  I make in long arming :~). 

I quilted and sewed until 7 PM, and finally finished Eileen’s quilt.  I headed upstairs to relax, watch TV and try to pull together the pattern for the third go-around on Michael’s blue alpaca sweater.
