SHQ food, Charlotte Quilt Guild Show

Thursday (3/2) was all about quilting….and FOOD!!! We do a pot luck on the first Thursday of the month, and the food was Irish themed or green themed for March and it was tremendous…this is just a sampling:

-my ruebenwich, which has not made an appearance in YEARS!

There was lots of good show and tell, but I will no longer be posting pictures here in the blog….sorry! I know how much my readers liked it, and I always got emails on how talented the ladies are, but a person at quilting has a problem with pictures being posted in the blog, so I will cease and desist. To be truthful….many times it was a pain in the butt to take the pictures, as many people wave their quilts about when showing, so the quilts are constantly in motion making it very difficult to get a decent picture. So, you’ll just have to content yourselves with pictures of my quilts…and occasional pics of friends quilts :~).

For example, here's a recent quilt BG got back from the longarmmer (every one of those squares is an embroidery):

When I got home after 2 PM, I spent about an hour talking to my honey and getting my blog out. I sewed for just a bit, then Michael and I decided we were both beat and tried to take a nap in the TV room….well….Ethel decided to join us, and she kept bopping me in the face, so I finally headed downstairs and got back to sewing :~).

Friday (3/3) was a wonderful day….Diane asked Pam and me to attend the Charlotte Quilt Guild show with her, and we had a wonderful time! I have more than enough pictures of terrific quilts to make up for not seeing SHQ stuff yesterday:

-I put this Kaffe one in for you....Pat!!!

-And this one is for you, June!

-the quilting on these quilts was just unbelievable!

-this one is for you, Sandy!

-Pam is pointing because the quilter did an outline of baby birds in that opening, with their beaks open, waiting for food....too cute!

-I saw this at the INNOVA dealership and am hoping to purchase this design

-Diane and I both loved this quilt and purchased the pattern....it has 4 different layouts! I was very glad that the designer had this quilt done up, as I would never have bought the pattern with the layout on the front of it. I will print this picture and slip it into my pattern, so that I remember what I liked about it! It was very interesting to talk to the vendor....she created ALL of the patterns in her booth and they were wonderful. I also bought a pattern for a new QoV

-our very own Laura (Thursday quilter) in her vendor booth at the show

-this is for all of my quilt-y friends....if they had had this panel for sale, I defintiely would have bought it. I'm glad the vendor gave me permission to take a pic!

Putting on a quilt show is a tremendous amount of work, and there is a lot of incredible talent in the (large) Charlotte guild.

The 3 of us bought some lovely things from the vendors (I'll try to get take pics for tomorrow), but I think the best part was our lunch afterwards in Waxhaw at Emmet’s. We sat there for about TWO HOURS talking, sharing….and laughing a LOT! It was wonderful and I thoroughly enjoyed myself! I felt happy and exhausted when I got home and spent lots of time lazing on the lanair with my honey. Eventually we cooked another ruebenwich for dinner, and spent the evening knitting and watching JURASSIC WORLD DOMINION in the evening.

*** If I had a nickel for every time I didn’t know what was going on…I would be like ‘’why am I always getting all of these nickels?’’ ***

*** My bed is a magical place where I suddenly remember everything I was supposed to do. ***
