My honey was all set for his tire appointment at Subaru on Friday morning (10/28) when he had to back out. I think he’s been hit with the same stomach virus that is going around…..so I jumped in the car and headed out to get it done. It's really crazy....we had yet another nail in a tire (we both feel we've had more than our share of nails in tires since we moved here!) Anyway, because we have an all wheel drive vehicle, you buy a new tire, and then they ''shave'' it to make it as worn as your other tires before putting it on....crazy!
I was home before NOON, had some breakfast, and wandered down to the studio. I have a QoV from Scrap Happy to get basted and quilted, so that was my agenda for the afternoon. This is the quilt I had a couple of weeks ago, where the outside border was so much larger than the quilt. The quilter removed that border, but you can see from these pictures that the inner border is also larger than it should be:
-you can already see it rippling along the bottom
but I think I can work the fullness in, so I’m going to give it the old college try :~). I got it all basted:
and set up the program and kicked off the quilting:
OMgosh…right around 3 PM I got a wonderful phone call!!! A woman asked if I was ‘’Deb’’ and I said yes, and she said ‘’my husband just started dialysis down in Lancaster and he was given a gorgeous quilt made by you and he just couldn’t believe it’’. She said my name sounded familiar and she thought we had met somewhere or other over the years here. She said the quilt was too pretty to cover her husband at dialysis….she’s rather hang it on her wall….but her hubby said it was so comfy! (So, I told her to head to our craft fair, coming up in early November, to get something for her wall :~). OH MY…that’s the first time I’ve ever gotten a call like that and it totally MADE MY DAY….AND MY WEEK!!! You know…it just makes me want to do a hundred more!!! She was kind enough to send me a pic:
I went upstairs to tell Michael about it...but there was a bit of snoozing going on, on the lanair:
I worked on the QoV quilt until dinnertime, and when you have fullness in quilt borders like that, you have to babysit it to not get any pleats in the top, so I didn’t get much else done…but by dinnertime I was half way through.

and it was yummy!!! And we vegged on the couch for the rest of the night.
Someone asked what I got done at the Scrap Happy 2 day retreat.....I got bindings for 3 quilts done at retreat (a sucky job made more fun by the company):
and I got my 20 blocks done for a potato chip quilt
from the fabric I bought in Cleveland on vacation.
And somebody got a very special Halloween card....drawn just for her...
*** I was born to be wild!!!!! But only until 9 PM or so… ***
