Thursday (10/19) was quilting…with lovely show and tell:
-Diane's finished tree skirt:
I have to tell you a funny story about Loree…someone complimented her on the sweater set whe was wearing….it was in a medium pink color and she looked very pretty in it. The person then mentioned that all she would need was a string of pearls and it would be perfect. Now, I had my pearls in my purse to get an appraisal on them to sell, and hadn’t taken them out yet….so I told Loree to put down her scissors and close her eyes, and I put the pearls over her head:
Yes, this is always how I wore them....with the clasp on the side to show off the diamonds! She said she got several comments the rest of the day about how nice she looked :~).
Diane and I have not gotten much of a chance to talk lately, and we’ve both had some tragedy in our lives lately as well, so we decided to go out to lunch after quilting. Some people in Sun City have been talking about Vera’s Kitchen in Waxhaw, so we decided to give it a try. Of course I forgot to take a pic until we were half done eating:
We both got the pork tamale special…and they were yummy. They also have regular burger/sandwich stuff that I would like to try…and they serve breakfast all day until they close at 2 PM.
When I got home, Freya, Lucy, Ethel and I all headed out to the lanair for several hours of communing with nature :~). And then while Michael was out at rehearsal in the evening, I got the backing loaded for Linda’s first quilt.
And look at this....one of my binding students wanted to thank me for the class...and brought me this...such a simple, but beautiful arrangement...I have ALWAYS loved coleus leaves:

On Friday (10/20) Michael had a luncheon meeting with his men's group, and I asked him if he'd like to take the pecan upside down cake to share...he said yes, so I got a single run of it baked in the morning:
-here it is with just the topping, before you pour the cake part in
And that also gave me a reason to hang around upstairs to wait for the new washer to be delievered:
This washer is a cubic foot smaller inside than my old one, but they assured me that it could handle a queen sized comforter....I guess we will see...
I headed to the studio after that and got Linda's quilt loaded and basted (isn't it pretty?):
and kicked off the quilting:
I got about half way through with that before we stopped for dinner and TV in the evening.
PS - I'm looking to borrow a queen sized air mattress for the first 2 - 3 weeks of November....can anyone local help me out?
*** Why do banks charge a fee due to insufficient funds; when they already know you're broke? ***
*** Is there ever a day that mattresses are not on sale? ***
I love a top loader washing machine!
does June use a long arm for quilting or does she free motion.
my sister and her husband are looking for retirement communities in SC and I told them about yours. Do you have a contact person and your personal thoughts on the community
