SHQ Show & Tell 10/6/2022

Michael left before 8 AM on Wednesday (10/5) and Janice and I cancelled our SKYPE session after she came down with chills and a fever and a headache…probably as a result of her new COVID booster :~(. So, Michael and I will definitely NOT be getting that until AFTER vacation.

I spent the morning re-claiming fabric that I used as backing on the chandelier quilt I just bound at Janice’s house, and cutting it into scraps for the rainbow quilts I want to do (those batting scraps will go to a friend who makes dog beds for the shelter):

My honey came home in the afternoon and said he had 17 good holes (oops…but took a NINE on one of the holes!) I did get some strips cut and got borders on my AZ Mary quilt (of course with cat interest):

and I love how it turned out. I can't wait to do one at the retreat with everyone else....that one will be in greens/blues/purples.

BG and I SKYPE’d at 4 PM…and that was wonderful since we haven’t talked since before she left on her tour of Alaska!

*****************************************

I was up early on Thursday (10/6) since it was potluck day at quilting, and I wanted to take rolls. I just took my knitting to quilting, and enjoyed the show and tell:

I think this one is stunning!

Here’s an example of why our luncheons are very hard to resist….I only took pictures of the desserts…and only some of them, not even all of them:

But even with all of those desserts…there was tons of savory food to enjoy too!

When I came home, I started to load up the 1st of 2 QoV quilts I volunteered to do

After basting the first one…I decided that in the future, I need to take a tip from people in the army from now on….you know what that means? DON”T VOLUNTEER FOR ANYTHING!!! Whoever put the border on this first quilt definitely didn’t measure it….and as a result:

That's excess fabric I'm somehow supposed to work in :~(. Frankly, it is going to be H_LL to quilt this….I am going to have to watch every stitch and manipulate the quilt to try not to get any pleats in the top :~(. I will not volunteer to do this again…I would much rather throw myself into making my own quilt tops, quilting them, and donating a finished quilt to the church….trust me…it will be much less stressful in the long run.

Getting that loaded and setting up the program took me to a late dinner of soup with my honey…and relaxing and knitting in front of the TV for the rest of the evening.

*** I just paid for a 12 month gym membership….my bank called to see if my credit card was stolen. ***

*** It’s almost that time of year when other gals look cute in their flannel, and I just look like I’ve misplaced my axe. ***

I absolutely love the peacock quilt! It is fabulous! Your Arizona quilt is beautiful. It reminds me of a sunset. I cannot wait to see the one in blues/greens/purples.
