Thursday (11/18) I was up early to get my blog out and get through all of my emails so that I could cut some strips to sew up at quilting. While I was cutting, I happened to glance outside:
Michael packed the car and I was off at 9 AM. We had a great group and several members had been at a retreat…so there was extra show and tell:
-another completed Bento Box from our class
-Sandy made her cozy pink sweater
-and another Bento Box completed
I had a finished quilt that I thought was prayers and squares size...but it looked really big, so I'll have to measure again to see if it is Beds=Dreams size! This is about the last of the feather fabric that BG and I bought about 4 years ago....I'm very sad to see it go....
And I was thrilled to get 2 bindings done for my QoV quilts:
I got home around 1 PM and after a quick lunch I collapsed for a nap! When I got up, I headed downstairs to stitch out a second label:
and to trim my QoV. Michael left for a pick-up rehearsal at 6:30 and I started to work on the disappearing 9 patch clean-up.
So, several weeks ago a woman at Thursday quilting told me she was looking for a QoV to give to the preacher at her church. I told her I would have one ready for her in a few weeks. Fast forward to yesterday…and the flooring guy came. We started talking and he noticed the quilts on my frame. I asked him if he knew what QoV’s were and he said yes. I asked if he was a veteran and he said no, but his son is. I asked if his son lived around here (always alert for another veteran I could give a quilt to :~), and he said yes…he lived in Lancaster (next closest town) and that he was a preacher. He told me where his church was…yep….you guessed it…when I went into quilting today, I talked to Jerri (the woman who asked for a quilt) and we figured out that my floor guy is the father of her preacher….small world :~).
When Michael got home from rehearsal, he said it was beautiful outside and suggested we sit out on the lanair for a bit....so we lit the candles:
and sat and talked for a long while...it was lovely.
*** FRUIT COCKTAIL: perhaps the most disappointing of all the cocktails. ***
