SHQ Show & Tell 9/1/22

I was up at 6 AM on Thursday (9/1) to make roll dough and set it to rise in the microwave, then to throw the 3 men’s quilts into the laundry, and to cut strips so that I would have something to work on at quilting!

Loree gave a demo today on how to clean and oil our featherweights….and it was FABULOUS!!! I took many pictures, which I hope will remind me of what I'm supposed to be doing, and where to put the oil! I was embarrased at the amount of fluzz I got out of my machine.

I got a little bit of sewing done after that before show and tell:

-this picture in NO WAY shows how striking this wall hanging is:

And, as it was the first Thursday of the month, we had our pot luck lunch:

I brought my yeast rolls…I believe that’s the first time I’ve made them since before the pandemic….the people who have joined since COVID were surprised that we had yeast rolls…but the pre-COVID members just grabbed them and moaned!

I had a meeting with my diabetes coach after quilting…first time in 11 weeks. He was glad to see I was healing well, and thrilled that not only did I not gain back any of the weight I have lost…but lost an additional 3 pounds. He tweaked my supplements just a bit in an effort to help with my lack of sleep....let's hope it works!

I was home by 4 PM, and after talking with my honey for a bit, I wanted to work on something, but truly I was just exhausted. I got to put my new quilt in its new home (on the back of the chair in my studio I typically nap in!):

I laid out my striped blocks:

I would have to put huge borders on this to get it even close to a size I would want....so I think I’m going to make 16 more…and then I can set up a 5 block by 6 block quilt…and it will then just need a small border.

After that about all my mind could handle was inserting white squares into this:

I got just a little done:

before heading upstairs to knit and veg.

Stash Report: Several people have requessted I go back to showing a stash report every month.....so for the month of August, I used 12-1/4 yards of fabric.

And I just have to share this...I got an email this morning....and it made me very happy:

''Hi Deb. I am finally going to email to let you know how I LOVE those quilts you created/donated for the Library. They cheer me up every time I see them. THANK YOU!!🥰''

Having those quilts make people smile is all I could ever ask!!!

*** Weird things that make you happy as an adult

-writing with a nice pen (yay, BG and me!!)

-freshly cleaned sheets

-cleaning the dryer lint screen

-using your favorite spatula

-enjoying my morning tea before anyone else is awake

-having plans cancelled. ***

I love the striped quilt, it’s going to be gorgeous.

I didn’t get what you meant by ”inserting white squares” 🤷‍♀️
