Thursday (7/27) was all about quilting…and it was wonderful to see everyone again after missing 2 meetings! We had great show and tell:
-notice that custom quilting, done by June for Paula's quilt
-Floy does absolutely the BEST applique quilts ( I LOVE that fish!!):
-These are a bunch of recent fidget quilt finishes by friend Corinne:
And Laura taught a thread class in early July, and people are continuing to embellish their pieces:
I was home just after 2 PM and spent the afternoon getting through the rest of the mail that came in while we were gone.
We had a simple dinner (Michael made a salad and I had half of a ham sandwich) before settling in to binge watch 2 episodes of THE PLANETS. Guess we’re still a bit tired as we both missed the end of Jupiter :~).
So, I had finished knitting the back and 2 front pieces of my ruana/shrug and was sewing it together a few days before leaving on vacation. While I was sewing it together…I really started to think about how much I didn’t like it, because (for a variety of reasons) it was full of mistakes…..so, I got the 2 front pieces all ripped out (never a pleasant thing when dealing with a hairy, mohair yarn) and re-wound the yarn (my simple yarn winder is one of the BEST purchases I have ever made!!!) changed the needle size and altered the pattern a bit in my head and put a small ribbing on it and took it on vacation. This is how far I’ve gotten with my new ruana/shrug:
and I am MUCH, MUCH happier!!!
Thanks for all of the positive responses to my ''death notes''. These are many of the things that as an executor...I needed to know...and had to gradually find out over the course of a year of doing it! I know it's a lot of information to pull together at once...just make a start...and then go back to it every month or so and add a bit more. As I think I indicated...I try review it at the end of each year to make sure info is still correct (like we bought a new car 2 years ago and that info had to be updated).
*** I wasn’t sure what to make for dinner, so I opened a bottle of wine & now I don’t care. A lesson for us all there I think. ***
I give you a lot of credit for ripping out your ruana to make it the way you envisioned !
Can't wait to see it finished.
I absolutely love the Show and Tell quilts, especially the one that looks like pinwheels and the animal applique! So cute and such talented women! Stay cool and be safe in the heat.
Happy Belated Birthday !!! And please send death notes. Label on quilt front...did you sew that while it was still a block, or wait til border was on? Very clever idea.
You pushed send!
