“Trump targets Abdul El-Sayed's wife in racist Truth Social frenzy

The president stayed up late posting again and singled out the wife of newly anointed Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed, posting a picture of El-Sayed and his wife, who wears a hijab, next to a picture of himself and Melania, with the caption "two Very Different America's" [sic]. El-Sayed was asked about the racist post by Jake Tapper this morning, and the clever physician completely flipped the script on him.

"He's right. One in which your overlords are two people who don't like each other but joined in the interest of making billions of dollars off of you. Or two people who genuinely love each other, enjoyed some pancakes together, want to come together to build the kind of America where they can raise a family and know that that family is going to have the good thing. So yes, you've got two different visions of America. Sara and I are running because when we look our daughters in the eye, Amelie and Sirin, we want them to believe that they're every bit as able to have a better future than the one that they could have had under the Trump administration!" BOOM. Mic drop. We knew that Trump would start pushing this racist garbage, but El-Sayed has shown he is no stranger to this kind of bigotry and is very skilled at deflecting these attacks and staying on message – and that's how we break through the noise and the hate.”

Wednesday morning (8/5) there was no video chat with Janice as she is in Maine on vacation…instead I got all of the bobbin ends woven in on Eileen’s quilt and got it off of the frame. 

Lately I have been feeling like no matter how much long arming I do, I still have a list of 7 quilts to be done!  I started to load up a new customer quilt….hoping it was a smaller one, but instead it is GINORMOUS!!!!! 

Oh well….I’ll be happy to spend that money on Clinton School when I get it :~).  Again, I continued to quilt and sew all day, and did intake on another quilt from another new customer. 

I sewed until 7 PM once again before heading upstairs.

I headed off to quilting on Thursday (8/6) and although we had close to the usual number of people, for some reason it was a quiet crowd….AND I PICKED UP 4 MORE CUSTOMER QUILTS!!!  I guess I not only need to sew faster….I need to quilt faster as well! 

We had lovely show and tell:

-this is from a disappearing 9 patch class I taught...I just love all of her fabrics together

-and this gorgeous thing is made ENTIRELY of scraps!

including my 3 QoV’s, which Diane R was kind enough to take great pictures of for me! 

-this is the newest totally finished quilt!!! (This makes 18 totally finished quilts for me this year...I don't know how many quilts other people do, but I am thrilled with that number :~)

Thunderstorms moved in, in the later afternoon, so there was no quilting then, and after BG and I had a little chat I was too tired to start long arming.  I have definitely learned to NOT start long arming when I am tired. 

Iris and Alessia made a quick stop to try on a sweater and speaking of Iris, her Easter quilt is totally done: 

I am just AMAZED at how quickly she has picked up quilting and gotten into some higher level things….look at the pieced blocks on that quilt! 

I spent the rest of the night working on a gauge and filling in the blanks on my pattern for Michael’s blue sweater....third time's the charm....right?!?!?!

I was up bright and early Friday (8/7), determined to put a huge push on my GINORMOUS customer quilt.  I kicked that off very early, and dropped back to sewing together my rows for the Connections quilt….I don’t know why this is seeming to take FOREVER to get the blocks into rows….but it is. 

Makes me hesitate to think about the horizontal sashing, which will probably take equally as long :~(.  I quilted all day, and by 7 PM, my customer quilt was done, and all of the ends were woven in and it was trimmed. 

I think I might have to give up trimming for my customers for 2 reasons – 1 – I really do not have the space to trim….especially a huge quilt like this, and I am lucky I have not already had a disaster where the finished quilt is folded under where I am trimming and I don’t notice it!  And 2 – rotary cutting is increasingly putting pressure at the base of my neck and on my elbow….especially when trimming a quilt which requires more pressure than regular strip cutting.  I had a lot of pain at the base of my neck for the entire evening after that  :~(. 

But the good news is, I got all of the ends woven in on the children’s sweater I am working on (and believe me…there were a TON….why did I decide to do stripes?!?!?) and worked on the ribbing of the neck while I watched TV in the evening….so I am thrilled that this will be done soon!

I was up early again on Saturday (8/8) to load up another customer quilt (love this blue/green colorway):

and got it going (I'm not sure I've ever stitched out this pattern before...and I really like it....I'm gonna have to use it soon!):

I got my Connections rows pressed and began to layout the horizontal sashing: 

I still need to cut 56 2 inch squares for the cornerstones before I can begin sewing that together. 

I have a friend having surgery in a couple of weeks, and I wanted to make a special card for that….so I did a bit of embroidering on my new paper:

My honey has been gone all week and will be home today by early afternoon….I CAN”T WAIT!!!!!  I am always glad that he has a chance to go away for a golfing week…..and I do enjoy my time at home….but as usual I miss him dreadfully and will be thrilled when he gets here :~).

I was finishing up my customer quilt right as Michael got home (thank goodness the quilt was a smaller one!) and we had a chance to talk about all of the things he did while he was away. 

I loaded up a second quilt (from the Arrow quilt class) :

and started stitching that out, but by the time I quit (7 PM again!) I wasn’t even half way through.
