I forgot to post this picture yesterday....Michael helped me to cut my soap Thursday morning...so now the entire garage smells like lavender:
-my brother-in-law Charlie built this cutter exactly to my specifications years and years ago...and I still love and use it!
-in 4 - 6 weeks....it will be soap! Well - actually, it is soap now...but it is very soft and if you used it...it would quickly disintegrate!
And now.....what some of you have been waiting for....for days....the embroidery machine comparison!!! Make sure you study the pictures first to draw your own conclusions, before you read mine and which machine is which. You should be able to left click on the pictures to make them bigger. Remember, all of the people doing the testing used the same stabelizer and thread.
To me, these towels showed the least differences among the machines. I did not personally rank them...they all looked pretty much the same to me. From left to right they are Bernina, Brother, Viking.
These t-shirts showed the clearest differences among the machines. The Viking shirt wasn't available for this picture...sorry...but it ranked third. There were clear differences in the heavier sating stitching on the beard....the Viking machine showed the sweatshirt color through the edge of some of that stitching. For me, the heavier satin stitching and fill in the beard is clearly better in the right hand Santa....and that is the Brother machine. The Bernina machine is on the left.
I don't think you can really see it in the picture, but the Bernina machine had pulls in the pink stitching on the lefthand side of the heart....so that put it in 3rd place for me....and that is the picture on the far left. Looking at the pictures in the middle and on the right...look at where the gray of the "O" goes into the yellow of the "L" at the top. The right hand applique has a bit of a lump, while the middle applique does not. That put the middle applique (Brother) in 1st place and the right hand applique (Viking) in 2nd place.
***So...it was a BROTHER machine for the overall win!!!

I had a ton of computer work to do Friday morning (11/19), but finally by NOON I was setting up my machine for binding in the kitchen:
My honey was out running errands to the grocery store, bird store, pet store, CVS and Dollar store. Unfortunately I didn’t cut enough binding strips for this quilt….so almost all of the way through sewing it on, I had to stop and bring the whole thing downstairs…cut another strip…sew it on…press in half and then head back upstairs. I finally finished the binding and got another quilt from downstairs. I had forgotten that I had a QoV on the to-be-bound pile…and the label was done and the binding was made, so I worked on that one next.
By the time I put the chicken tettrazini casserole in the oven, I was done with the binding on one side of the second quilt….yay! We had dinner (tettrazini and more yummy tomatoes from Loree and Reg’s garden):
and Michael left around 6 PM for another performance.
Paula had called to say she was feeling well enough for company, so I headed down there and…she is such a sweetie….she stitched down the labels on both of my quilts:
So I have a TOTALLY FINISHED QUILT:
I was home just before 10 PM and Michael called to say he was on his way home as well.

I choose the brother machine right at the duck embroidery!!
