*** Sorry this is so late...I had problems up loading my pictures for a couple of days...finally got it resolved this morning. ***

As difficult as it is to believe that he could get any worse, Donald Trump has sunk to a new moral low. This time, however, the rebuke for his latest reprehensible behavior isn’t coming from Democrats in Congress, cable news hosts, or legal experts. It’s coming from the grieving children of a murdered lawmaker.
Colin and Sophie Hortman, whose mother, Minnesota state Rep. Melissa Hortman, was assassinated along with her husband and family dog in June, are demanding Trump delete a Truth Social post that pushes a vile, baseless conspiracy about her killing — and apologize for his cruel and crass conspiracy-mongering.
Instead of offering long-overdue condolences to Hortman’s family, Trump amplified a video falsely insinuating that Gov. Tim Walz somehow played a role in the murders, a claim with zero evidence to support it. Law enforcement in Minnesota has flatly rejected the idea as ludicrous, but facts have never stopped Trump from weaponizing tragedy.
This is the pattern. Trump takes grief, fear, and bloodshed, then pours gasoline on it for political gain. He did it before, during, and after January 6. He’s done it with racist attacks on Somali American communities. And now he’s doing it to the children of a murdered public servant.

I was feeling kinda punky again Friday morning (1/2), as was my honey, but I threw on my mask (just wanted to keep any germs I might have to myself!) and headed out on errands. My honey helped me to get 2 of our living room chairs into the car, and those got dropped off to be recovered…I made a quick stop at PLAY IT AGAIN SPORTS to look at a rowing machine….then stopped at Food Lion, the library and CVS.
I really felt like my car was struggling every time I started it up, so I called my honey and asked him to make a car appointment at his convenience…and he headed out just after I got home! The upshot was…a new battery. I wanted to take a nap in the afternoon, but had a ton of work to do on computer…so that was the rest of my day!!!

This week is really messing with my head!!! Each day I have to ask myself several times during the day…is it Thursday? Is it Friday? Well, it’s finally Saturday (1/3) and I am ready to load up my longarm. I already have 2 customer quilts that I took in last week, but told my customers that I wouldn’t be starting them until after the 1st…..so, I’m ready to dive in!!! Speaking of quilts, I totaled up my stats for 2025. I quilted 87 quilts on XENA last year….well above my goal of 1 per week. They broke down as follows.
-6 quilts for Beds=Dreams (these have all been donated)

-2 were charity quilts for others to donate
-62 customer quilts
-8 dialysis or wheelchair quilts (actually, one went to a women's shelter supported by Janice's quilt guild...it just happened to be the perfect size)

-4 quilts were given as gifts

-4 Quilts of Valor (the chandelier has already been donated, but as I previously mentioned, the other 3 will be donated withing the next 2 weeks)

-1 quilt we kept….my first for our king sized bed

This is the most number of quilts I’ve ever quilted in a year….I don’t really think I can do more than this…I felt pretty busy all year! When I was first considering getting a longarm…I remember Michael asking me if I thought I would really use it…and my reply was ‘’I think so….but I don’t really know’’. I’m glad I know now…and am very grateful for all of the quilts I have been able to donate/gift…it has been a joy! I didn't feel I was very productive with my personal quilts in 2024, and vowed to do better in 2025....and I definitely did!
My honey decided not to go golfing on Saturday (1/3) as it was overcast and misting a bit, and the temperature was dropping….so he brought me a very artistic breakfast:

and stopped down later to continue to layout a new QoV:

I continued to cut for a Beds=Dreams, and have another project for my project box:

I think I now have more-than-enough things to do on our retreat, and I can happily turn my attention to something else!
Michael and I had potato soup again for dinner and settled in for some TV. We have become disenchanted with several of the dramas we generally watch…as they have become very, very dark. We may just switch over to only watching sitcoms if this keeps up!

I headed to the studio Sunday morning (1/4) determined to finish my customer quilt, and by early afternoon, it was done:

I spent about an hour pulling together some information for our taxes from our checkbook registers, then spent the rest of the day starting to re-organize my drawers where I keep scraps for quilt patterns that I make over and over again. I really needed a few more empty drawers to corral my 2-1/2’’ squares that I am making into 16 patches…and I managed to create that space.
I had such a wonderful time getting organized and also got another FPF kit almost completely put together with what I found. I think I have enough kits (well, more than enough actually) for the QUAP quilt retreat in April, but this kit will just be put on a shelf for when I need a new project. It still needs just 16 black/white 4 patches to be complete.
I also found some 4 patches, made with white....so I don't want to put them in my regular scrap 4 patches....so I started to put them together as part of a wheelchair quilt (I'll have to check with Pam as to what size I am aiming for):

Michael and I finished up the potato soup for dinner…and I made popovers to go with it…of course I totally forgot to take a picture :~(.
And Iris sent me a totally cute picture of one of the girls looking at the Alice in Wonderland pop-up book we gave them:

And 10 years ago.....
*** A Haiku (remember those?) about being in your 70’s:
I am so tired
Where did all my money go
My back is hurting. ***
*** I run everyday for 20 minutes....if I miss a day, I add it to the next day. It's working out great, tomorrow I'm supposed to run for 4 months. ***
*** Sadly, I do my best proofreading after I hit send. ***

Girl, that Haiku was written for me.
You are a workaholic with doing all those quilts! Did you give away the bargello or sell it?
