Blueberry pancakes, new QoV, Dinner with Pete & Kay

*** Yesterday, July 1st, was a sad day for America. Apparently you can foment a rebellion, incite violence, try to overthrow the government, ignore due process (this is what happened on January 6th, 2021), and people can die trying to defend our Constitution....but it's all ok because you were the president and above the law. You can lie and lie and lie and lie without a shred of proof for your accusations (''the election was stolen''), and people believe you.

Among the light-hearted descriptions of food and quilting on this blog, know that I am very depressed and sad at what our country is willing to tolerate. We no longer have a difference in political opinion....we have a difference in morality. ***

*** And in the words of the immortal and brilliant Carl Sagan...I think this is where a lot of people are:

"One of the saddest lessons of history is this: If we've been bamboozled long enough, we tend to reject any evidence of the bamboozle. We're no longer interested in finding out the truth. The bamboozle has captured us. It's simply too painful to acknowledge, even to ourselves, that we've been taken.

Once you give a charlatan power over you, you almost never get it back." ***

Sunday morning (6/30) was yummy with pancakes and bacon for breakfast:

I have a lovely friend who's been giving me blueberries from her bushes…so it was blueberry pancakes today instead of the traditional pecan.

We cleaned up a bit, then Janice headed for home:

By the time I made it downstairs, it was raining lightly and more importantly, we had already heard the first boom of thunder, so that put the kibosh on quilting on my customer quilt.  Instead, I continued to work on the Scrap Happy QoV:

I got bread made in the afternoon, and took half a loaf over to Kay & Pete’s:

who had invited us for a turkey dinner:

Let me tell you…that woman puts on a SPREAD!!!  Everything was delicious and we stayed until around 8 PM, when they sent us home with enough food for 3 more dinners!

Neither one of us felt like watching TV, so we read in the living room until bed.

***********************************************************************

I ran a second half a loaf of bread to a friend Monday morning (7/1) while Michael had gas housers with the fresh bread….then left for golf.  He wasn’t sure just how many holes he would be playing as he seems more and more affected by the heat….we will see.  I headed to the studio and fired up XENA to start the quilting on my monster customer quilt:

This was an all day thing as each row takes over 30 minutes to stitch out and uses up 90% of a bobbin.  While that was happening, I finished up the last column for my Scrap Happy QoV:

I talked it over with Janice, and if this hits the required size, the only thing I will do with it is bind it in a dark blue....neither one of us thought it would benefit from any kind of border.

My honey made it through 9 holes and came home around 3 PM...relatively happy with what he did...although he DID say he lost 4 balls in the first 4 holes!!!

I was really hoping to get the customer quilt finished…but it was not to be by the time I stopped for ‘mater and bacon sandwiches for dinner with my honey…yum!!!

*** I'm not 100% sure if I will get another blog post out before Friday, July 5th....so I'd like to remind you that Pat's husband George is having his surgery that day.....please add them to your prayers. ***

*** WORKSHOP LAW OF BREAD:

When the buttered slice of bread falls it always falls on the buttered side.

LAW OF QUEUE:

If you change queue, the one you just left starts to move faster than the one you are in now.

LAW OF MECHANICAL REPAIR

After your hands become coated with grease, your nose begins to itch.

LAW OF THE TOOLS:

Any tool, when dropped, rolls to the least accessible corner.

BATH THEOREM:

When the body is immersed in water, the telephone rings.

LAW OF ENCOUNTERS

The probability of meeting someone you know increases when you ''just ran out for a minute'' with bad hair and awful ratty clothes. ***

I love your QOV!

Tell Michael to be careful in this heat. I did my Express Order pick up at H. T. today & the ambulance was just leaving with a man who collapsed in the parking lot…heat exhaustion !

I fully agree with your comments at the beginning of your blog. I pray we are not in for another four years of chaos and lies. On a happier note, I love your new QOV! Also, your turkey dinner looked magnificent!

I agree wholeheartedly with your sentiment in the Supreme Court decisions. It’s a sad day for Americans.
