Michael was up super early on Wednesday (7/8) for an 8:30 AM tee time, and I spent the morning in the kitchen, baking 2 vanilla sponges (which I forgot to take a picture of!)
I hit the studio after that and managed to get my pinwheel top almost all done…I did the inner border:

I just need the skinny, outer pink border. And I got my QoV off of the frame and all cleaned up and trimmed and on the to-be-bound pile.
I had a massage at 1 PM (heaven) and then a doctor’s appointment at 2 PM where he was THRILLED with my labs and my weight loss! I don’t have to see him again until November, which I am thrilled about :~).
When I got home, I made my pastry cream and put together my Boston Cream Pie, but didn’t glaze the top with chocolate, figuring I could do it after dinner. Have I talked about this? My Aunt Rose always made one of these for my birthday every year, and I've had a bee in my bonnet lately about making one :~).
We headed out to pick up Pam and her cousin and went to Hickory Tavern for dinner. Her cousin is just delightful and we had wonderful meals and conversation. At the end, when Mike (the cousin) was considering dessert….I mentioned that I had made a Boston Cream Pie and we could have that back at the house…and everyone enthusiastically agreed!
I should have glazed it in the afternoon, because the ganache took WAY TOO LONG to set up, but eventually I served it and it was very well received!

I ran Pam and Mike home before 9 PM and Michael and I just watched a cooking show before bed.

Michael loaded up my car and I grabbed the Boston Cream Pie and I headed out to quilting Thursday morning (7/9). I don’t know why, but it seemed like an extra fun time….maybe part of it was because I didn’t get much sewing done because many friends wanted to talk! That always make it sweeter. We had lovely show and tell:

-another arrow quilt top done from the class I taught

-isn't this just FABULOUS?!?!?!

and I think everyone appreciated the cake dessert for lunch. I was home around 2:30 and got to talk to my honey for a bit before heading downstairs.
I got the outside pinwheel border made and sewn onto my quilt top:

So this one is ready for quilting as soon as I figure out a backing.
Last week Sharon showed a really neat patriotic quilt, and I asked her to bring in the book this week for me to look at. I still liked the one from last week, but the book also contained another one I am just crazy about. After my recent success with the pinwheel quilts, I decided if I am really excited about something I need to jump right on it. It was too small for a QoV, so I spent a bit of time drafting out a pattern big enough for a QoV…this one is not nearly as cryptic as the pinwheel one :~) :

We had Robin’s squash for dinner again…and this time threw in a bunch of tomatoes that needed to be cleaned up:

I headed to the studio Friday morning (7/10). I wanted to get something loaded up on XENA, but again, my backing was very wrinkly so I got it pinned on, sprayed with water, and wound around my bottom bar to let the wrinkles relax.
Sally picked me up just after 11 AM and we headed out to Peppercorn Grill:

which had a delightful menu. I had a BLT with an Asian type salad:

We had a lot of talking to get through as we haven’t seen each other in a long time…and I didn’t get home until 2 PM…it was great!
I spent the afternoon working on blocks for the new QoV, and by 5:30 I had made good progress:

and we headed out to our Italian Date night cooking class (they always put out a little snack for us to get started):

-here's the menu for the evening

What a lot of fun….and lots of nice other participants…the food was EXCELLENT

and our dessert, strawberries and cake with a Limoncello Mascarpone whip on top

was TO DIE FOR!!! We were home by 10 and read for an hour before bed.

I thought you looked different. Now I know why. I’ve lost 13# myself.
I absolutely love your new pink pinwheel quilt! Congrats on the good bloodwork results and the weight loss! I can see the weight loss in your face in the picture of you and Sally. The quilt with the snails, kitties, and flowers from Show and Tell is fabulous! Love all of the fppd pics from your cooking class! So Yummy!

Your pinwheel quilts just keep getting prettier and prettier. I think I like this latest best of all!!
That pic of you and Sally, you look absolutely thin! If people don't notice then boo on them!
