Michael left for golf Monday morning (4/8) and I headed to the studio with lots to do. First up was finishing sewing the bottom half of the bed quilt together….I still have to press all of the seams open…which will be a pain….but at least I am making progress:
Next up was finishing cutting the EIGHTY half square triangles I need for a QoV quilt for Scrap Happy:
I spent the rest of my time cleaning up the first brown quilt and getting it off of the frame…I didn’t get it trimmed before leaving for knitting class at the library.
I had 2 of my new students and one of my old ones (sewing her sweater together). I had to gently try to tell my new students that they are not going to learn how to knit by knitting only on Mondays from 6 – 7:30 :~)….there needs to be some knitting at home as well!!
So, I asked Janice if I could share this with you…and she said yes…..first you have to understand that her guild is having a table top challenge and her quilt is maybe 8’’ by 10’’. Back in the day, Janice used to make a lot of miniature quilts…and so she figured it would be cool to join in this challenge. And, she's been wanting to hand quilt sometthing again, and figured this would be the perfect opportunity. So, I got an email from her a couple of days ago with the subject line of :IMPORTANT LIFE LESSON LEARNED TODAY
And the body of the email read:’’ ....67 year old Janice does NOT have the eyesight, patience nor desire to hand quilt a miniature quilt that 37 year old Janice did. Only got about 3 inches into it before saying scr#!w this. Machine quilting stitch in the ditch looks fine. If it costs me the grand prize, so be it...’’
It made me laugh right out loud :~).
And how cool is this….one of my former knitting students is in Ohio for the eclipse…and is teaching 3 other people to knit while waiting to see it!!!
And a gratuitous, perfect picture of Ethel:
*** Why do doctors leave the room while you change??? They're going to see you naked anyway. ***
You must be so proud of your knitting student!
Love Janice’s experience with miniature quilting. Our minds must age differently than our fingers.
Really love your bed quilt! It is going to look amazing!! Ethel looks like she is posing for a magazine. Beautiful!
Great pic!
