I headed out Wednesday morning (11/15) and met Loree and Robin for breakfast at Vera’s kitchen in Waxhaw. We have never done this before, but we had a number of things to discuss about Scrap Happy, and Loree thought it would be nice to do it in a different setting than the church. I had eggs and biscuits and gravy:
and it was yummy…and it was delightful to sit there talking about all manner of things….we decided that maybe we should continue to do it once or twice a year!
I got home around 12:30 (Michael had already left for golfing) and immediately SKYPE’d with Janice. As I mentioned, she had just received her wine advent calendar and thought it was a HOOT!!! We’re both anxious for December 1st! By the time I made it to the studio, it was 2:30 PM and I started to load up my newest customer quilt:
I only got a bit of it done before it was time to leave for Michael’s doctor’s appointment. This was a routine appointment to re-check his blood pressure, but we had a bunch of questions as well and got them all answered. We stopped at the pharmacy on the way home and scheduled our RSV vaccine for Thursday afternoon. I was finally home and back downstairs by 5 PM. I finished loading up the customer quilt:
then headed upstairs for dinner (half of a grilled ham/cheese sandwich my honey made and the rest of the apple slaw) before settling in front of the TV. Michael and I worked on cleaning up the cast gift towels, and got through the majority of them by bedtime!
So, a friend asked me what pattern I am doing for the first bed quilt…here it is:
She is trying to talk me out of the black leading, because in other quilts she has seen….her eye immediately lands on the black instead of the other fabrics. I think she does have a point. I DO have that dark purple that I was going to use for blocks, but could use for the leading instead….I would appreciate hearing everyone’s thoughts?
Here's the black:
-and here's the purple
Please let me know what you think?

Alexa: I have added gin to your shopping list
Me: close enough ***
I vote for the purple too
I think the purple is a better choice. The black seems to overpower the other fabrics.
I like the purple one, more subtle. -- C
Hard to tell from photo. I think I'd make 2 squares, or at least lay 2 out, 1 with each color. Not sure the purple has enough contrast. (is dark enough to make it look 3 D.) What does M think ?
I vote PURPLE. Love the contrast of the purple and blends nicely with the other fabrics. The black is neat but my eyes are also drawn first to the black.
