I spent Friday morning (11/4) in the kitchen. First up was chocolate peanut butter cookies:
Then I got our dinner put together in the crockpot (Mexican Chicken Soup):
Then I measured out the ingredients for the corn bread I usually make to go with this soup (I will bake it when the soup is done, since I like to serve my bread warm :~):
I finally made it downstairs and got my blog out, before working on the second religious quilt to get it cleaned up, off of the frame and trimmed, and on the ever towering to-be-bound pile:
OK – that’s it….before I quilt anymore of my own quilts….I gotta get some of these bound.
Linda stopped by to drop off a quilt to be done and we had a nice chat as she too is going on retreat next week. It will be nice to do someone else’s quilt since it won’t create any additional fabric for me that needs to be re-claimed….AND I don’t have to bind it :~).
I whipped out a quick label for Mary Jo:
And spent the rest of the day working on my last blues quilt….remember I made additional blue/white HST’s at the 2 day quilting retreat?
Well, that gave me enough for an additional row on the top, and on the bottom of what I had already started:
After I had that laid out, I still had leftover HST’s, so I put them on the side:
I think this center is now big enough that I will just add borders until it is the size I want, once I get all of the HST's sewn on.
We had the soup and cornbread:
for dinner and it was so YUMMY!!! I wanted to make it and get it frozen as this will be my dinner contribution at retreat.
So, another person asked me about the Chicken Pot Pie Noodle Skillet recipe…so I thought I’d just post stuff here. Here’s the link: https://12tomatoes.com/chicken-pot-pie-noodle-skillet/
Here are all of the changes I made to the recipe:
-I started with 2 tbsp butter and 1 tbsp oil....so that I could add 3 tbsp of flour for a slightly thicker sauce.
-Plus I put in some Worcestershire...maybe 1/2 a tablespoon
-10 oz was WAY TOO MANY noodles...I think next time I'll do 4 oz
-I added 2 tbsp fresh rosemary....may up that to 3
-added 1/2 c sherry to the sauce....I’m sure this is what made Michael really like it…the flavor is so good! Use good sherry….like Dry Sack…not that stuff in the grocery store
-I always use 1/2 and 1/2 instead of heavy cream as I always have 1/2 and 1/2 in fridge..
OK – just a heads up…I think when you go to the blog, there’s a place that says ‘’let’s chat’’. If you write something there, it goes to a very obscure part of the blog that I don’t generally see. So, if you really want me to respond, leave a comment (which is sent directly to my email) or just send me an email at dreamsoaps@aol.com. I just found a ‘’let’s chat’’ comment from August :~(.
