Michael was up and out very early for golfing away on Tuesday (11/26), while I got the program set up on the new quilt before picking up Pam S and heading to the airport. She is flying to Wisconsin to visit her cousin for Thanksgiving…and may also look at some houses while there as she might want to move closer to family in the future.
When I got home, I had breakfast (around 12:30 PM!!) before hitting the studio to start the stitch out on the customer quilt:
My honey came home around 3:30 and I finally finished my quilt around 5:30….YAY!!!
This week is carefully mapped out to get everything I need…done! Michael left for the movies around 6:30 and I knit the evening away.

It was another early morning for golf on Wednesday (11/27) although Michael only played 11 holes and was home by 2:30! I SKYPE’d with Janice, then started in with the last of my candy making. I got caramel popcorn:
and cracker toffee done
and bagged up with help from my honey by dinnertime.
I managed to get Mexican Chicken Soup in the crockpot yesterday morning, so we had that again for dinner before settling in to relaxing for the evening.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!! I spent the morning in the studio, cleaning up and putting away a bunch of items before heading upstairs around NOON. Michael got a call from his sister Sue, who sent along a picture of her view in Puerto Rico:
We did things a little differently this year….I only bought a turkey breast (as neither Michael nor I really like dark meat) and I did a ‘dry brine’ on the breast on Wednesday. Even though the turkey breast was ultimately well overcooked (it cooked MUCH faster than indicated on the label and was already at 169 degrees when I pulled it out to baste OVER AN HOUR before people were due to arrive!!), it was so tender and actually juicy and tasty that I think I will always do it that way from now on!
Anyway, Michael was already in the kitchen, finishing up his potato/carrot mash:
and I got rolls started and measured out stuff for my roux to thicken the gravy, made on Sunday. Our guests:
Connie, Kay, Pete
arrived at 4 PM with their own contributions to dinner and we had a FEAST (turkey, rolls, potato/carrot mash, gravy, green beans, stuffing, pineapple casserole and apple pie!):
We sat and talked for close to 3 hours, but finally everyone left and we got the dishwasher going and collapsed in the TV room…it was a wonderful and pretty relaxing day.

And people wonder why I don’t generally pay any attention to the weather forecast!!! Thanksgiving day was supposed to be cold and dreary, with a 90% chance of rain all day….HAH!!! It turned out to be sunny and 70 instead.
When we woke up on Friday (11/29) however, it was 36 degrees!!! Michael and I did a bit more cleaning up in the kitchen before throwing in laundry and working on various other chores around the house. In the early afternoon, Michael put together boxes and I laid out sets of candy:
and he packed up the boxes and braved the post office to get them mailed.
*** Oh…the weather out side is frightful
But my fabric is so delightful
And since I’ve no place to go….
Let us sew…let us sew….let us sew… ***
it was a great thanksgivng....but...wish we had MORE leftovers!
I had the EXACT same thing happen to me with our Thanksgiving turkey breast...I went to put the stuffing dish in oven to time it to be ready at the same time as the turkey, and the "done" pop-up on the turkey was already popped up!!!
