I spent a lot of Tuesday morning (6/11) on my computer…first getting a blog out, then looking for a couple of new cookie recipes. Michael and I are going to a Mustang owner’s picnic later in the month, and I’m supposed to bring a dessert. Since it’s outside….and several hours long, and in June….in the south….I thought cookies were my safest bet. I hope to make my regular peanut butter cookies because everyone seems to really like them, but also wanted to try a new recipe for Chocolate Sugar Cookies. I got that all squared away, and then started looking for another recipe. I thawed out phyllo dough over the weekend, and hoped to take another kind of filled cookie to the teacher of Lady Locks, but I didn’t manage to pull them together. Since the dough is already thawed, I still need to make them, and hope to stop by her house later in the week with my new treat :~). By the time I found what I wanted on the computer, our furnace guy showed up to meet with us. It is time to replace our 2 furnaces, and 2 air conditioning units (can you say $$$$$...OUCH!) and he came by with his helper to scope everything out and work up a price.
By the time we were done discussing everything that has to happen with our replacements, it was early afternoon and I finally got back to XENA and loaded up the next customer quilt:
and got started with a little quilting:

Wednesday (6/12) was really a perfect day….my honey left early for the first day of his tournament (his team won today, match play 9-1/2 points to 8-1/2 points) and I SKYPE’d with Janice in the morning….it seemed like we talked about twice as many things as usual!
After SKYPE-ing, I got half of my Turkish cigars made:
and left them to cool while I settled in with my new library book. You know where this is going…right? At 4:30 I finally finished the book….incredibly satisfying story….highly recommend: IONA IVERSON’S RULES FOR COMMUTING by Clair Pooley. When I saw that my hold on this book was in…based strictly on the title, I said ‘’why on earth did I request that?” But I LOVED the book!!!
So at 5 PM I was finally in the studio to do just a bit of sewing, 2 more columns of Teal Splendor....done!!!:
before stopping for dinner and TV in the evening.
And BG finished a new quilt for her granddaugter...another FPF (4 patch frenzy) that looks totally different!:
*** I made some mac ‘n’ cheese without having to retrieve the box instructions from the trash….so I’m basically ready for Top Chef! ***
*** I love bacon because I can wrap I around anything…..it’s basically the duct tape of food! ***
Teal Splendor is growing by the minute!
Love that sweet scrappy quilt on the longarm.
Kruegeml1's friend's quilt is WONDERFUL. I know those stars. Did a whole quilt in them too. BG's quilt is really different. Would love to see the original fabric she used for her focus fabric.
So what did you fill the Turkish Cigars with? Or is it going to be in the next post?
My girlfriend just finished a quilt that she has been working on for 4 yrs, each of those white blocks are 3”, with a center 1.5” square and 8 1.5” hst surrounding it. It’s a project Janice would enjoy
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE BG's FPF!! Very creative. Must keep that idea in mind. Looks totally different...
