Dialysis quilts

Michael was out walking the dog when our phone rang Sunday morning (5/8). It was my neighbor calling…but when I repeatedly said ‘’hello’’…I got no response…so I immediately headed across the street to see what was going on. He was ok, but indicated he had just received a call that someone he was talking to 2 days ogo, had just tested positive for COVID. I headed back to our house and got my mask, as well as a COVID test and headed back across the street. Thank goodness Janice did this for me right before QUAP, because it is definitely a multi-step process…but thanks to her I felt confident about what I was doing. Bryce and I sat at least 10 feet apart, both with masks on, while waiting 20 minutes for the results, and luckily he was negative. By the time I got home, I just had time to make a quick pit stop before running across the street for my massage.

I haven’t seen Brianna in over a month, and she immediately noticed that I had lost weight. We talked during the beginning of the massage about what I had been doing/eating, and when my massage was done, she said ‘’whatever you are doing keep it up! I noticed MUCH LESS inflammation in your body than you've ever had before. It is obviously making a difference''. So, even if my scale and my blood sugar haven’t seemed to be moving these last 2 weeks, my body is obviously getting better!

I had breakfast when I got home just before NOON, then headed to the studio to get my blog out before getting back to quilting. First up was cleaning up my customer quilt before getting it off of the frame and trimmed:

and I got another label made:

-I still have to rip out the stay stitching:

After that I continued to work the rest of the day on a new QoV….I would cut 2 strips, make 6 HST’s, iron everything, then place in a pizza box for my subsequent creation of 9 patches:

Michael wanted to watch FORD vs FERRARI in the evening, so I stayed downstairs and continued with my cutting and sewing. I will eventually have 36 9-patch blocks to put together and that should take me a good long time at Thursday quilting.

And now, some show & tell…..all of my dialysis quilts are packed up and ready to go to the Lancaster Dialysis center this week:

this one was donated by (I believe) my friend Leila..but all of the rest were done by me!

Each one is folded to show the label:

I might try to run down after quilting on Thursday....I'll have to ask Paula if she has time as we generally ride to quilting together:

Pretty accurate prediction….I’ve moved from:

S to M to L to XL to XXL ***
