I headed out early on Tuesday (8/10) for PT and when I got home before 11 AM, I futzed around the house, getting ready for the weaving group. Connie arrived at 1 PM with the food…and it was quite a spread:
-this was my pound cake
-Donna brought this peach cake
-these peach crumble bars from Connie were divine
And everyone else was close on her heels:
-Connie
-Lucie
-Rosalie
-Kathy
-Pam
-Virginia & Donna
-Laurie
-Melanie
When she found an empty chair, even Lucy found our discussions facinating:
We had a terrific time talking and laughing, and there was lots of interesting show and tell:
-a yoyo tablecloth and complementary runner:
After the show and tell, Lucy got a bit bored with the talking, but was facinated by Melanie's bag:
Paula stopped down:
near the end of the meeting to drop off a knitting UFO that might be picked up by one of the attendees. And after 2 of the ladies left, Ethel decided we were worthy of her presence:
As usual, Rosalie was very productive....spinning through most of the meeting:
Everyone was gone by 5 PM and Michael had a quick dinner of the chicken sausage stir fry before being picked up by Larry for the movies. I spent the evening knitting and watching old ENDEAVOUR’s on AMAZON Prime.
So, Arizona Mary wanted a few more details on what I screwed up on the pound cake as she wants to make it as well. Even though I re-typed the recipe (as I do all of my baking recipes as I weigh my ingredients) somehow I totally forgot what it said about the baking time. The real recipe calls for 1 hour AND 20 MINUTES at 300 degrees, before lowering the oven temperature to 275 degrees for an additional 15 minutes. Somehow my brain TOTALLY forgot the additional 20 minutes, and I only baked it for 1 hour. It was still TOTALLY SLOSH-y after only an hour, and I texted Loree to see if hers usually looked like that after the initial baking time. The answer (unsurprisingly) was no, but I lowered the temp anyway and cooked for another 15 minutes….still totally slosh-y…cooked for another 5 minutes, then another 10 minutes, then another 10 minutes. Finally (and don’t ask me why I did this because I have no idea) I re-read the recipe…and noticed that I had missed the extra 20 minutes at 300 degrees…so at that point I turned the oven back to 300 degrees, baked for 10 more minutes and started praying. It really is a miracle that it turned out decently, given how much I screwed it up :~). I definitely want to do this again and cook it CORRECTLY!!!

Loved all the show and tell ! I thought futz was a typo !
When I quickly scrolled by Donna's photo on the couch, I thought she had angel wings. ;)
And loved the quote about having a glass of wine and caring less. LOL
Funny thing -- I used the word futz today too!
