Fri & Sat

‘’The unborn’’ are a convenient group of people to advocate for. They never make demands of you; they are morally uncomplicated, unlike the incarcerated, addicted or the chronically poor; they don’t resent your condescension or complain that you are not politically correct; unlike widows, they don’t ask you to question patriarchy; unlike orphans, they don’t need money, education, or childcare; unlike aliens, they don’t bring all that racial, cultural and religious baggage that you dislike; they allow you to feel good about yourself without any work at creating or maintaining relationships; and when they are born, you can forget about them, because they cease to be unborn. It’s almost as if, by being born, they have died to you. You can love the unborn and advocate for them without substantially challenging your own wealth, power or privilege, without re-imagining social structures, apologizing, or making reparations to anyone. They are, in short, the perfect people to love if you want to claim you love Jesus, but actually dislike people who breathe. Prisoners? Immigrants? The sick? The poor? Widows? Orphans? All the groups that are specifically mentioned in the bible? They all get thrown under the bus for the unborn.’’

I spent all day Friday (5/6) going great guns on my customer quilt. Well…I was going great guns until the lightning and thunderstorm moved in, in the afternoon (complete with a tornado warning until 8 PM) and I had to shut everything down. I worked on my men’s quilt then and finally got all of the blocks sewn into rows:

I paused for dinner, then came back downstairs around 5:30…unfortunately, it started to get overcast again….so I didn’t plug in XENA…again…instead I continued to cut for my new QoV.

Michael left super early for golf on Saturday (5/7), while I got started quilting again. I worked on my customer quilt until just before 1 PM, when I headed to a neighbors for his Quilt of Valor ceremony:

It was a lovely presentation (they started doing them in driveways in order to continue giving out quilts during COVID), and I was home before 2 PM, after talking with a lot of my neighbors.

I finished up the quilting by dinnertime:

While the quilting was going on, I continued to cut for my newest QoV…I cut 2 strips….sub-cut my 6 HST’s, sewed them together…ironed them along with the rest of the strips…then cut the rest and layered them in my pizza box:

I’ll definitely have something to sew next Thursday. Michael and Cookie were both in the basement with me for a bit:

It was date night and we decided to snuggle and watch LOVE ACTUALLY…..my favorite movie!!!

And Michael took more pics outside as other plants and our beach roses are blooming as well:

*** I got kicked out of the hospital.

Apparently the sign ‘’stroke patients here’’ meant something completely different. ***

*** I eat mostly whole foods….whole pizzas, whole cans of biscuits, whole cakes, whole bags of Doritos, whole tubs of ice cream. ***
