Gas housers, another customer Christmas quilt, eggs!, playing pool

So....did anyone watch the Repulican Town Hall a couple of days ago in Pennsylvania? Fortunately, I only saw snippets of it...but, is anyone really still voting for this guy??

**********************************************

Of course....with fresh bread...Michael had his beloved gas housers for breakfast on Monday (10/14):

I spent Monday getting the new quilt loaded:

and getting half way done with the quilting:

While XENA was stitching out, I got all of my Rainbow rows put together.  Now I have to iron the seams open (yuck!) and see what size border I need to add to get it to the right size…..I think I just need a small one.

My honey hired people to clean our lanair windows inside and out a few weeks ago...and they did a great job....the windows look fabulous. So, he hired the same company (out of Matthews) to do our regular windows, inside and out, and our screens:

Once again they did a terrific job....it's a pleasure to look outside :~).

We headed out again to see comet Atlas….only Michael wanted to go later…when it was fully dark….so more around 7:30 PM.  We met another guy on the golf course doing the exact same thing, and this time WE SAW IT!!!!  It will be 80,000 years before it comes back again.  When we came home, we thought it was appropriate to watch NOVA, which is currently running new episodes on different worlds :~).

And BG has gotten borders on 2 patriotic tops that she started at retreat:

  I love this pattern!

I was up early on Tuesday (10/15) to get the 3rd Christmas quilt done….and my honey helped by making me breakfast....with an added surprise of a slice of ham....heaven!!!

By lunchtime, the quilt was all quilted and off of the frame and trimmed:

Then it was finally time to start sewing together a quilt top that’s been on my design wall for MONTHS:

I got it all sewn together into rows and then pressed.  I’m thinking that it is a better fit for a wheelchair quilt than a dialysis quilt, so I think I’m going to keep all of the matching HST’s I made as part of it, and start a new quilt with them.  After that ironing spree….I got all of the rows pressed open on the Rainbow quilt and figured out that I need 2-1/2 inch borders.

Michael wanted to play a bit of pool in the afternoon....oh my....that meant I needed to clean off the pool table. Luckily my longarm was empty, so I could use the rail to drape everything....yes, these are all UFO's.....~hangs head in shame~:

and then Michael had a clear field to play:

Michael and I had crab sandwiches from the crab truck for dinner, and he got picked up at 6:30 PM for the movies, while I got to sit and knit and watch LONELY PLANET on NETFLIX…it was a pretty good movie!

And...the caption of this picture is.....eggs were on sale!

Michael left for golf on Wednesday (10/16) while I was SKYPE-ing with Janice, and when we were done, I headed out to get my hair done.  I stopped at the ‘’EXXON’’ food truck first to pick up a breakfast sandwich, and split that with my hairdresser Lisa.  I hit the pharmacy, library and bank on the way home….and settled in to read once I got there.  When Diane and I went to the Lancaster library 2 weeks ago, I managed to score a copy of:

Dr Anthony Fauci’s autobiography.  Since it has just recently been published, it’s only on a 2 week loan and I was determined to finish it before it is due tomorrow.  The last couple of chapters were the hardest to read….as they deal with the COVID pandemic, and the erratic (to say the least) behavior of the then occupant of the White House (namely tRump).  I had a lot of respect for Dr Fauci during the pandemic, and since microbiology was my favorite class in college, I have followed many scientific studies over the years with much interest.  The huge difference with the COVID pandemic was that this time…the entire event became a political football due to the president….and some people lost all reason.

Dr Fauci was constantly urged by the then president to not speak the truth, but instead to always be positive and tell people it was going away.  After tRump’s very first briefing by Dr Fauci in early 2020, tRump pronounced COVID to be ‘the Democrats’ new hoax’.    After that came the hydroxychloroquine fiasco, with the president jumping on the bandwagon….touting it as a cure….when it wasn’t and actually proved to be detrimental.  Then the next phase (which I’m sure you remember) was the president touting bleach….drinking or injecting…whichever you preferred :~).  Another example of the president’s tendency to try to wish away COVID with solutions that had no scientific basis.  Next was ‘’we’ve got to get back to normal by Easter’, which in 2020 was April 12th.  He put a BIG push on being able to go to church on Palm Sunday and Easter.

There is much more in the book that I won’t go into, but suffice it to say, the president did not put any emphasis on public health…but was determined that COVID would be gone in time for the election, because that what was most important to him.  And he ended up making Dr Fauci the villain…whose very life, and the lives of his wife and children were threatened…which continues to this day….a very discouraging fact indeed, especially considering that the man devoted his entire life to public service.

I finished up the book by 4 PM….with still a ton of admiration for Dr Fauci, his knowledge and his public service, and putting up with all that he did when he was at that time in his late 70’s!

I got my strips cut for the Rainbow quilt broder, and got them sewn together before joining Michael for a hot dog dinner and TV.

And 10 years ago....

*** I’ve been watching my weight and rest assured…it’s still there. ***

*** My family coat of arms ties at the back….is that normal? ***
