Happy Anniversary to us!!!! 19 fabulous years of wedded bliss!!! My honey made me a terrific breakfast (an egg/cheese/bacon sandwich on a toasted English muffin spread with just the perfect amount of mayo!):
so that I could dive into my projects for the day. We can’t celebrate our anniversary tonight as he will be going to the movies with Larry….and not tomorrow either as we are going out to dinner with friends….so we’ve decided to postpone our ‘’champagne and puffy things’’ celebration until sometime this weekend :~). However, he did give me a gift....one of his newest drawings, which he put up where I can see it every day (please kindly ignore the perpetually messy desk):
First up for me was finally getting a sympathy note written that I have been struggling with, and sending pictures of the deceased to CVS to enclose with the note. Normally within a week I have a framework of what I want to say, and then it takes another week to finalize everything. For some reason I was really struggling with this one, and it’s been over a month….definitely time to figure it out. I know it may seem silly to some, but I put a lot of thought into my notes, and don’t want to dash off just any ol’ thing.
Anyway, then I jumped into cleaning up Sandy’s quilt and getting it off of the frame and trimmed:
I’ve been procrastinating a bit on Teal Splendor….because I know eventually I will have to make more strata…and I really don’t want to know how many, but I decided I needed to get back to it….so that was the rest of the afternoon, and I got an additional column put together:
Our neighbor Pete came down in the afternoon with his air compressor and blew out all of the lines in our grill and it seems to be working just fine now! We really do have great neighbors. I got a call in the afternoon from a potential new longarm customer….I’m glad because I lost 3 customers…sadly one through death and 2 others through moving, and if this woman starts to bring me quilts, she would be the 3rd new customer…..so I’m crossing my fingers :~).
Michael left before 6 PM for the movies, and I headed upstairs to knit the night away. I’m on the shawl collar of my shrug and finally beginning my short rows.

Michael left to walk Freya as soon as we were up on Wednesday (5/29), and I putzed around in the kitchen until they were back. I headed to the studio to get Loree’s quilt loaded up:
I love this quilt….I think it’s beautiful….but I may be cursing her out just a bit as I quilt it. She bought a doe suede backing for it…and while I think it is perfect for a non-bed quilt….it is VERY stretchy and I think it’s going to be a pain to quilt :~(.
I delivered 2 Beds=Dreams quilts after that, that Janice brought along with her 2 weeks ago…..she finished them years ago…just about the time we got kicked to the curb and were told that they no longer wanted our quilts, but a new church has taken up the banner and the woman was thrilled to receive them.
I got a call from weaver Pam on the way home, and so stopped by her house for a nice long chat. She’s been all up and down the east coast visiting friends and it was nice to get a bit caught up....although as I was leaving, she indicated that we need another nice long chit chat over drinks!
Michael and I got cleaned up after that and headed out to TRIO’s, for dinner with friends:
-Sue, Dennis, and my honey
-Ann Mary & Sue
-Gale and Jim
-Phil and Gale
As always, our meals were excellent:
-Michael got prime rib
-while I had shrimp and scallops
and when people were sitting around looking at the dessert menu, I ventured the thought that I could come up with 8 desserts at our house. Everyone embraced that idea and Michael and I took off for home, while Gale graciously headed home to make real coffee to bring along (since we only have instant decaf!)
I know I am not generally very good at making things look nice, but I think in 10 minutes I did a credible job (except for everything being brown):
-those are caramel pecan cookies (I had made a new pan to take to quilting), then the Bailey's Mousse, then Michael's giant chocolate chip cookies (they were a big hit:~)
We were set up and ready to go by the time everyone arrived, 5 minutes later:
I think everyone enjoyed the desserts and we all enjoyed sitting in the living room talking.
Michael and I headed to bed around 11 PM, and Janice and Dennis arrived (very quietly!!) just before 1 AM! They have been out visiting with daughter Michelle in Colorado, and generally stay here overnight before flying out and when coming home so that they don’t have to make the 3-1/2 hour drive directly to the airport. They were supposed to arrive at 9:40 PM....but their flight got delayed 3 or 4 times, so I texted that we were going to bed and the door would be unlocked and the lights on! It was wonderful timing as then Janice could come to Scrap Happy for several hours Thursday morning before Dennis picked her up for the final leg of their journey home.
And 10 years ago (to keep up with BG and Loree’s tumbling blocks, and adventures with my new longarm!):
*** Just so you know….if I'm visiting, and you tell me to make myself at home….I’m gonna take my bra off….make a pot of coffee…and search your house for chocolate….sound fair??? ***
What a nice post ! Love all the quilts, M's artwork, and great presentation on the dessert tray ! Saved probably 60 bucks on dessert and coffee !
Happy Anniversary
Happy Anniversary!!! Time flies!!!
