In the Kitchen - Shrimp Fried Rice, Mermaid cards, secret project

I totally agree with this statement I read in one of my emails this morning:

I support reasonable efforts to control our borders. I do NOT support the terrorizing and inhumane treatment of people that has been occurring.

Michael had a heart doctor appointment on Friday morning (2/20) in Pineville, but luckily they called at 8:30 AM and said they could go over all of the information on the phone and we didn’t have to come in…YAY!

I decided to continue to work on my HST’s from the new Villa Rose, and by mid-afternoon I had all of them made:

I’ll take them upstairs to trim to a good size while we’re watching TV tonight.

I have been working on snowball blocks at Thursday quilting (since I have to do 192 snowball corners or maybe 196, I just do a dozen or so every week), and got a number of them done…and I wanted to see how they were going to ‘’play’’ with my 16 patches at home, so I started to put some of them up on the design wall…..I LOVE it:

And I had snuggly, sleepy company all day while I was sewing:

Dinner was another episode of IN THE KITCHEN WITH MICHAEL & DEB as we made Shrimp Fried Rice from our Chinese cooking class.  We wanted to make it a main dish instead of just a side, so I tweaked the recipe a bit and we gave it a go:

It tasted great….but we’re going to do a few more tweaks (like more shrimp and more veggies and a few more spices) before calling it excellent!

So, Michael made/drew 2 mermaid cards for Iris’s girls so that we could write THANK YOU notes for our Valentine gifts….and they were received today!  Iris said the girls hadn’t received mail before, and they really weren’t even sure how to open them….but they LOVED them:

A customer dropped off at quilt on Saturday morning (2/21) and I got it loaded:

before dropping back to my HST’s for the new project.  I got them sewn into ‘’two-sies’’:

and started to sew on a few sides.  I also got a few more of my snowball blocks made to add to the 16 patches on my design wall:

We had leftover fried rice for dinner and watched MISS PETTIGREW LIVES FOR A DAY…..a wonderful movie!

I baked off a quick loaf of artisan bread Sunday morning (2/22):

before setting up the program and commencing quilting:

I love the pattern of this quilt…but I have never yet seen one without a lot of fullness, and this one was no different.  I spent a lot of time manipulating the fabric while it was stitching out, to prevent any pleats, but at last it was done:

I had a little bit of time left, and got both sides on a few of my HST blocks and put some up on the wall:

WOW – this thing looks like it is on LSD….or I was when I started it :~).  I’m glad I decided to put the few blocks I had up on the wall, because it showed me where else I had to trim since my HST’s were the wrong size…but I got all of my other pieces trimmed and ready to make more blocks when I get back to sewing.

My honey made spaghetti and meatballs for dinner and we settled in to watch TV. I've made several false starts on my :

but I think I finally have everything pulled together to make a real start tomorrow at the library.

And even though the temps are dropping again this week…these popped up in the front bed this morning:
