Iris's totally finished Valentine's quilt, SHQ Show & Tell, new pierogis

The President of the United States is now floating the idea that journalists should be charged with treason and death for reporting things he doesn’t like about his war. Sit with that for a second.

Treason in U.S. law is one of the most serious crimes on the books and historically has meant literally aiding an enemy in war. Trump is instead applying it to reporters doing their job, while simultaneously praising FCC threats to yank broadcast licenses from networks that don’t cover the war the way his administration prefers.

And when a president starts talking about executing journalists while threatening to shut down media outlets that criticize him… that’s not normal politics. That’s the kind of rhetoric you usually hear from governments that don’t allow a free press in the first place.

Michael left for a haircut and then golfing on Tuesday (3/10), while Iris came by to finish off the binding on her Valentine’s quilt:

She didn’t get totally done before it was time to leave, but she knows what she has to do to finish it.

I have to tell you something funny…while she was sewing, I was working on Pam’s second quilt…and at one point I started up the stitching and something went seriously wrong.  I got the machine stopped and Iris piped up and said ‘’is this what you do every day down here?  Stand around and say ‘’what the H_LL….what the H_LL!!’’  I burst out laughing (not even realizing I did that) and said ‘’I guess I do, do that when things go very, very wrong’’ :~).  What happened that time was my bobbin case popped completely out of my machine and was hiding somewhere on the floor!

Iris left around NOON and I headed upstairs to have a bit of breakfast (still eating my biscuits and gravy…..does it taste better after a couple of days? It sure seems so!) and I was finally back to quilting in the early afternoon.

Before Michael got home from golfing, I had all of the quilting done on Pam’s second quilt and I started to weave in the ends and get it off of the frame….2 down and 5 to go (I finally had to make a list and tape it to my computer because I had too many quilts to do to just remember them!)

I spent time today writing 2 sympathy cards that only pop into my head when I’m in bed trying to get to sleep!  They have been on my mind for quite a bit, but I finally got them written and sent!

The Ford place never called about Michael’s car, so he headed to the movies around 6 PM and I continued sewing and got all of my little blocks into big blocks for the Crossroads pattern:

and also got my directions written:

I got a picture from Iris late in the evening…when we were working on her quilt binding together…I told her for some reason I generally get 3 great ‘’corners’’ and one bad one….so she sent me this picture with the caption ‘’4 perfect corners’’….I am bursting with pride….she is a FABULOUS student!:

Michael left for golf on Wednesday (3/11) while I video chatted with Janice in the morning before taking off for a massage.  I have not made my honey’s favorite chocolate chip cookies in a looooong time, so when I got home, that was on the agenda:

As I finished those up, he got the call that his car was ready, so we picked it up and he picked up dinner on the way home (ARBY’s fish sandwiches).  I worked a bit on Marvella’s quilt when I got home, but just got it loaded on XENA before I pooped out and joined my honey upstairs.

Although it was raining and we were under a tornado watch (or warning, dont remember which) on Thursday (3/12), Michael packed the car and I headed to quilting….I wasn’t about to give up the meatloaf sandwich Diane promised me for lunch :~).

I had a wonderful time and finally finished the inside of the quilt I’ve been working on forever (pics tomorrow hopefully) and we had great show and tell:

I got home around 3 PM and read my book until our dinner of pierogies, and they were FABULOUS!!!!

As I mentioned, Michael picked up ARBY’s for dinner on Wednesday on the way home from the FORD dealership….but just after I passed ARBY's and was rounding the corner to go up to the light at 51, I saw a big sign that said PIEROGIS and I whipped my car around and into the parking lot.  When I went inside, both customers and both of the people behind the counter were speaking Polish….so I had high hopes.  I bought an order of pierogis and headed on home.

We had them tonight:

and they were incredible!!!  So plump and so filling and filled with potato and cheddar…I’m sure we will go back soon!

I got started quilting Marvella’s quilt on Friday morning (3/13):

and got 3/4 of the way done before Michael came downstairs to help me with taxes.  We are trying to itemize this year…and I will definitely ask our tax guy if it was worth it when I pick up our taxes!!!  That took quite a bit of time, but finally I had done as much as I could, and dropped back to Marvella’s quilt, and by dinnertime, the quilting was done!

We had wonderful chicken soup…a gift from Pam S….for dinner and then a very special dessert.  We have a Dunkin’ Donuts/Baskin Robins near us, and every once in awhile (and it really isn’t very often as they close at 8 PM), Michael and I stop there on our way home from errands or whatever at night, and try to score our very favorite Praline/Pecan Ice cream.  We get it even less times than not as they are frequently out of it!  Anyway, he found it at Harris Teeter when I told him Ben & Jerry’s was B1G1…and the Praline was B1G1 too!!!!  It was FABULOUS!!!!!

And here's a picture of the inside of my Thursday project:

All of the 16 patches were from strips that Sandy donated to me when she heard I was collecting 2-1/2’’ squares….and the strips in between are ‘’cork’’ like fabric I bought at FOUST about 3 years ago…I thought it would go well with the browns and greens in Sandy’s strips.  I think I will be putting 2 borders on it before calling it finished. I need a name for this quilt....any suggestions?

And 10 years ago.....

*** Listen....I still wanna be invited, but I'm not coming! ***

*** I think I may need professional help....a maid, a butler and a chef should do it. ***

*** Of course I take expensive trips....they're to the vet, but it still counts. ***
