President Donald Trump has spent nearly a quarter of his second term at a golf club, according to a tracking website.
The 79-year-old has visited golf clubs at least 79 times since taking office on January 20, 2025, or about 22.8 percent of the presidency, according to DidTrumpGolfToday.com.
Since returning to office, Trump’s golf club visits have cost taxpayers an estimated $110,600,000, according to the website.
The tracker based that calculation on a 2019 Government Accountability Office report on the cost of four golf trips during Trump’s first presidency.

I felt like I had a bunch of stuff to get done Monday morning (12/29) before Iris arrived for her quilting lesson. She is starting a Valentine’s Day quilt and will be making 9 patch blocks and appliqued heart blocks…something a little more traditional than the tulip/butterfly quilts! I got everything done…and she arrived after 10 AM:

She stayed until late afternoon and we made great progress….but I was absolutely exhausted after she left :~). (I did get bread made in the morning, and sent half a loaf home with her!)
I just sat and watched TV and rocked in my chair for over an hour before I got a bit of energy and started to put the binding on my latest QoV:

******************************
Michael was up and out Tuesday morning (12/30) for hair and then chiro appointments, while I headed to the studio to continue with my binding. I got most of the way done before it was time to go to the dentist for 2 filling replacements! Normally, I wouldn’t be that excited about it, but they were having a year end special of no out-of-pocket costs as long as your deductible was met with your insurance, so that worked out well for me.
I hit Food Lion on the way home and once I was home, I finished the binding on the wrong side of my quilt and started to put it on the right side:

At the same time, Michael started laying out another QoV for me:

I never make these for anyone in particular, but someone always seems to come along who needs one. The one I am currently binding will be the 3rd one I have finished recently…and I have 3 people waiting for them :~).
Michael left at 6 PM for the movies, and I got to knit and watch re-runs of THE CLOSER in the evening.
********************************
I video chatted with Janice Wednesday morning (12/31); she and Dennis are still visiting family in Connecticut and are thinking of coming home over the weekend.
Michael had a frost delay, so didn’t leave for golf until after 11 AM. I was back to sewing binding on my QoV, and by mid-afternoon, I had another totally finished quilt:

I had an absolutely dreadful sleep last night, so I took an hour nap before I pulled out fabric for a non-traditional QoV and began cutting it (this one will be for a specific veteran):

Of course....Michael and I had champagne and puffy things for our New Year’s Eve dinner, I didn't take pictures...and now I can't remember what we had...but I know they were yummy!!!
**********************
HAPPY NEW YEARS!!!!!! Instead of our usual potluck brunch on this day, we arranged to have just 2 other couples over…but there’s some crud going around and one of them got sick, so we cancelled.
I made white chocolate/raspberry scones for our January 1st breakfast:

before leaving Michael to watch a couple of UCONN basketball games.
I finished up cutting my unconventional QoV fabric and made up a kit:

for my project box for the QUAP retreat in April. I’ll be making a 2 color chandelier quilt for it…and I have the perfect quilting stitch to use on it when it is finished :~).
After that I opened my Christmas present fabric:

and got a kit made up for a disappearing 4 patch quilt…

and also started cutting for a Beds=Dreams quilt.

I am writing directions for the Beds=Dreams as I cut, and decided to be smart for a change and make up ONE block so that I know my quilt math is right....there are too many pieces in the block to be sure....so I am measuring the block as I make it to know what sized strips to cut next.
By then it was time to head upstairs and work on dinner. Michael and I made Potato Soup (thanks Kay for the yummy recipe)

and I wanted to watch something romantic in the evening, so that was YOU”VE GOT MAIL. After that we watched CHAPTER TWO, which Michael had never seen, but immediately recognized as a Neil Simon comedy due to the snappy writing.
And 10 years ago....
*** Oh....the weather outside is frightful...
And my joint pain is not delightful....
And since it has gotten so cold....
I feel old, I feel old, I feel old! ***
*** My favorite way to shop is just to yell out what I'm looking for...and wait for Facebook to post an ad for it! ***
*** It's not really procrastination if I have no intention of ever doing it. ***

The scones and the potato soup look delish! Happy New Year!
Chapter Two is one of my favorite movies!
2015 was super busy!!!
When I am trying out a totally new block, I always make a "sample" out of scraps to 1) see the size, and 2) make sure I really want to do that block based on the amount of work and degree of difficulty, before cutting all the fabric. Some people would call that wise, others would say lack of confidence and commitment. 😄 Happy New Year of quilting!!!
