My honey made me a fabulous and beautiful breakfast on Monday (11/6):
while I was downstairs starting to cut for the new quilt. And we picked what is probably the last rose of summer (up on the mantel, with access from the dry bar blocked off because otherwise Ethel tries to EAT IT!!!:
I gained another new longarm customer through word-of-mouth, and did intake on her large quilt on Monday morning. I spent a good bit of time getting it loaded and basted, and got the program set up:
That’s as far as I got before I had to do some stuff around the house. I made Chicken Alfredo one pot pasta for dinner…..I had some heavy cream leftover…have no idea what from as when a cooking recipe calls for heavy cream….I just use half & half, which I always have for my tea. It must have been a baking recipe….substitutions don’t always work on those :~). Anyway, Michael said it was really good and he cleaned up the kitchen after dinner as I had to leave for my knitting class. Most of my students are doing really well….but I am still a bit worried about 1 woman who skips making the purl stitches once in awhile…but doesn’t seem to notice. That’s certainly going to be problematic if she ever tries to make something besides a sample!
I was home by 8 PM and we watched a couple of DEATH IN PARADISEs before bed.
And I forgot to post this....here's the cast after their fabulous opening weekend:
I’m sure some of you remember my friend Cathy L from Travelers. She is semi-retiring and is moving to a new place by the beach, and has started her own blog at: https://cmtl.me/. She got a gorgeous picture the other day….I’ll let you read her own words: ‘’Lesson here is: never turn your back on a sunset. Saturday evening, I had watched the sun go down on the beach (at the Pot Nets cove) and was heading home. But just before I entered the path through the trees, I turned around and caught what I was missing. Breathtaking.’’
And my honey thought the photo was so perfect...he's now set it as the background on his computer (high praise indeed Cathy, as normally his background is the most current picture of his granddaughter!):
(This was supposed to be in yesterday’s blog!!!) And here’s another 10 years ago today: https://foodandfiberfloozie.blogspot.com/2013/11/cookie-elsie-duex-caramelized-onions.html
*** Six cows were smoking joints and playing poker. That's right. The steaks were pretty high. ***
The sunset is breathtaking! Your rose is so beautiful. It is sad to think there will not be anymore until spring.
That cast was just fabulous!
Fabulous picture, Cathy!!!
The heavy cream was from something you made the last time I visited. I remember Aldi's only had a larger size cream than what you wanted, but I don't remember what it was for...🤔
The fun y is great, and I’m going to try the onions in the crockpot recipe
Thanks for sharing that sunset, Deb. Now I really do have to get that picture posted to the blog! That was one of the most spectacular sunsets I've seen - and the colors in the photo are pretty close to what I saw which isn't always the case. I don't blame Michael for putting it on his computer. I have often wondered why we don't more deliberately seek out the sunsets, and the walks along the water if we are close to any body of water that could offer that luxury. (Nothing like an ocean beach, but I've loved river and lake walks, too. Even a pond will do!) I've made a vow to myself to get to the beach…
