My honey just had a bit of yoghurt for breakfast on Friday (3/28) before planting the new purple iris’s that Loree brought last week, and leaving for an LLB luncheon at CROSSWINDS.
I worked for a bit on my QFH (quilt from H_LL) and gave up (too many thread breaks) and dropped back to my disappearing hourglass. I only get 3 – 4 blocks done on a day when I sew…and it’s going to take a L_O_N_G time to get all 72 blocks done, so that’s what my newly emptied drawer is for. I got some blocks done:

before heading upstairs to put together meatloaf, a salad and a potato casserole:

for dinner. I already made the dessert (Michael's beloved ice box cake and my default dessert!):

a couple of days before.
Laura:

and Dave:

came around 6 PM and we had dinner and then proceeded to play 5 CROWNS

all the way through from 3’s through King’s. After that we taught them how to play SCREWED and I think they really enjoyed it. And Freya certainly is maturing.....in the past, she would bother us constantly as we tried to play cards, but on this night? Good as gold:

They left around 10 PM and Michael and I watched a BEAT BOBBY FLAY before heading to bed.

Michael left Saturday morning (3/29) for golf and I headed to the studio to take my QoV’s off the frame….to be worked on another day :~(.
After that I spent the rest of the day working on the disappearing hourglass blocks. I wish I hadn’t used so many colors, not only does it look quite chaotic, but I think the primary and secondary design is getting lost in everything, but it certainly looks cheery to me and……..someone will love it!!!

Michael and Freya headed out in the late afternoon….so this picture is labeled ‘’hard day at the dog park’’:

Michael had a salad for dinner and I had my leftovers from the restaurant and we spent the entire evening, addressing and writing in our Christmas/Easter cards….more details on that in a bit!

Sunday morning (3/30) was lovely and quiet. I got the ends woven in on my first QoV (that stitched out PERFECTLY!) and worked on more hourglass blocks. Martha arrived at 1 PM and we headed out to pick up Pam:

and headed into Waxhaw for a performance of CONNECTING DOORS:

This play was directed by a friend of ours, and it was EXCELLENT, although very, very long! The playwriter definitely could have easily cut 45 minutes from the whole thing and it would have been perfect.
Normally we wouldn’t care that much, but we were trying to get to the neighbor’s farewell for Kay and Pete:

and by the time we got there, everyone’s dinner was being bagged up. We sat and talked for about half an hour, and then Michael and I decided to order dinner and stay anyway.
Our dinners were good, but the service was terrible. What I mean by that is that I literally had taken TWO bites of the Caesar salad we were sharing:

when our entrees arrived!

Needless to say, by the time I got to the entrée, it was cold. The portions were more than generous, so I’m sure I’ll enjoy it hot later in the week!

How fun to see June!
That is one of my pet peeves when I go to a restaurant. I just hate it when you order a salad or an appetizer to be followed by your entrees and you are really looking forward to a leisurely dinner, but two minutes after you get your salad or appetizer, here comes the entrees! We always tell the server to allow us to enjoy our salad or appetizer before they bring out our entrees. Cold meals, when they are supposed to be hot, are the worst! Well, now I feel better!
