Michael was up and out Friday morning (10/4) wanting to visit a Mustang museum that is about an hour away. He found out that they are a drop off point for supplies for western North Carolina, so his first stop was BJ’s to pick up a bunch of supplies (water/peanut butter/tooth brushes and paste/etc) on the list:
before heading to the museum. When he arrived, they were thrilled to get the supplies. He loved the museum....and decided to join as a member. They had lots of cars there....but what I liked was the FOURTH Mustang ever made:
And my honey taking a picture of his car as a reflection (ala Norman Rockwell):
Speaking of Mustang's, I'm finally remembering to post a special picture.... remember when one of Michael's students came to visit him recently? Well, she sent along a wonderful gift afterwards, that has been hanging in the garage ever since:
In the morning I continued to quilt on my latest customer quilt:
This pattern is so intricate that each row takes a full bobbin!!
In the afternoon, we had the inaugural session of what I hope will become a regular feature COOKIES WITH IRIS!!!! My friend Iris came over and we made a new recipe called Chocolate Turtle Cookies:
-Iris learning to weigh her ingredients
-her smile is just one of the things I love about her...
-using cookie scoops to get them all the same size
-voila
We hope to test out various cookies to see if they will become a part of a celebration…planned for next year! The cookies tasted good, but they didn’t have any leavening in them…making them too dense for me….the caramel to chocolate ratio was off….and the recipe definitely should have said to chill the dough overnight before baking. All in all, good taste was not enough to keep them on the party list!
By the time Iris left, my honey had come home from the museum and headed up to the dog park. He was home around 6:30 and we finally pulled some dinner together and settled in to watch TV. First up? One of our favorite returning shows: CRIME SCENE KITCHEN! This is an elimination show and it is fun to play along. For each segment, the couples get 2 minutes in the Crime Scene Kitchen, where something has been baked. From the clues (dirty mixing bowls, rolling pins, wrappers in garbage, etc) they try to figure out what has been baked, and then re-create it. We like to try to figure out what they should be baking as well. The ‘’big reveal’’ of the real baked good is campy and fun!

On Saturday (10/5) Michael and Freya headed out for a walk, while I headed to the studio to quilt. While Michael was out, he stopped in at the golf club to pick up his winnings from the tournament on Wednesday…..a cool 75 smack-a-roos!!!!! I asked him where he was taking me to dinner :~).
I continued to quilt until Nancy came over for a visit in the early afternoon:
She worked on weaving in ends on some of the many prayer shawls she is getting ready to donate, while I sewed on my FPF Rainbow. I went back to quilting when she left (XENA made too much noise while she was here and made it very hard to talk, so I shut her down!) and by 7 PM, I was finished with the quilt:
We had salads for dinner, and settled in to a bit of TV before bed.
*** Every time I take up a new sport or exercise I meet new people….usually they’re paramedics…but they’re new people!! ***
I love the customer quilt with all of the little animals sitting inside their houses, so CUTE! Fun fact: Did you know my parents owned a 1965 maroon with black interior two-door Mustang that I used as a trade-in when I bought my first car, my orange Toyota Corolla? I used to drive it to work when I started with Hess's Department store after college.
Another great blog!!!
