Guess the Republican right is getting what it wanted....more women dying:
The fate of a woman suffering from a miscarriage may depend not just on the state where she lives, but the location of the hospital she visits. Texas enacted its abortion law in 2021, banning the procedure even in pregnancies that were no longer viable. The state also threatened to imprison doctors and punish hospitals for providing such care unless there was a life-threatening emergency. Since then, medical personnel have been restricted from helping women who were miscarrying until they could figure out a way to document that the patients were in mortal peril. Now, a new analysis by ProPublica showed that where the hospitals were located often determined if these women ended up suffering from sepsis, a life-threatening reaction to infection. Sepsis cases across Texas shot up more than 50% for women who lost their pregnancies in the second trimester after the state enacted its abortion ban. When these women went to hospitals in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, where doctors were empowered to intervene before it was too late, that number dropped to 29%. Whereas in Houston, where hospitals' legal departments had advised doctors to delay treatment until they could document a serious infection, the sepsis rate surged to 63%.

tRUMP: Some people say ''oh, you shouldn't accept gifts for the country. My attitude is ''why wouldn't I accept the gifts''?
Because Article 1, Section 9, Clause 8 of the constitution says you can't. That's why you shouldn't elect a convicted felon to run your country.

I was up early Sunday (5/11) to get the ends woven in on my customer quilt (there were more than enough as I also had a few breakage problems on it), but finally it was done and I headed off to SUMO donuts for 2 breakfast sandwiches and a few donuts. There was a long line out the door at 9 AM and I was happy for them (but sad for me as it was 60 degrees and I was in shorts, flip flops and a short sleeved t-shirt….brrrr!), but at last I was back home to share breakfast with my honey.
I had 2 quilt customers come by to pick up their quilts and made it back to the studio by 11 AM to load up another customer quilt. I started working on the backing….but decided I needed a break from XENA, so I spent a very relaxing day continuing to sew together blocks from my newest Beds=Dreams:

and starting to sew together my disappearing hourglass as leaders and enders:

Michael and I both had wonton soup for dinner and snuggled with Freya and Ethel while watching the last 2 episodes of WATSON.

On Monday morning (5/12), I was back up and at ‘em with the long arm:

A very cute Christmas quilt.
And I have totally neglected to show you the newest decoration/inspiration in my sewing room:

My honey surprised me with it when I came back from QUAP….I LOVE it!!!
Anyway, back to the salt mines with another customer quilt. Although I kept it going all day, it is a very slow stitch out as the design has many, many points, so I was only about 40% of the way done by the time I stopped for dinner. But Lucy kept me company for most of the time:

And Janice is ‘’on the board’’ again with a disappearing 9 patch charity quilt, for a local men’s shelter:

My honey was still feeling pretty punky on Tuesday (5/13), so I made him an eggs/cheese/toast:

before he headed out to a neuropathy appointment and I headed to the studio to hopefully finish the customer quilt.
When Michael got home, we had a visit...and our artwork in the kitchen went from this:

to this:

The new/old piece has been residing in the SPRINGS INSURANCE office for the last 16 years....but Karen is retiring and she wanted to make sure it didn't get thrown out by the new agents! Michael is super happy, because he always liked this artwork the best! We worked on it together...I think it was probably our first collaboration on a quilt.
I got my customer quilt done after that....

but as the day went on I got slower and slower and slower. Although Michael started wearing a mask the minute he had symptoms last week....by then I had already been infected and it showed up with a vengence!
The rest of Tuesday....and all of Wednesday.....Thursday....and Friday....I spent reading....trying to nap....and drinking hot liquids. I did not go to quilting and did not go on my retreat (boo...hiss!!). I would have been devastated if I got anyone else sick....so I just stayed in my little plague infested house....praying to turn the corner! If you're dying for something more to read....it'll have to come from 10 years ago....
10 Years ago.....
*** I was addicted to the hokey pokey, but I turned myself around. ***
*** You think you know stress? When I was a kid, if you missed a TV show....you just missed it....FOREVER!! ***
*** If you get an email with a subject of ''knock, knock'' don't open it. It's a Jehovah's Witness working from home. ***
T shirt, shorts and flip flops in 60 degrees ?! You didn't have a chance fending off M's germs.
I know, I know...
So happy you got your fabulous work of art home and hanging !
Feel better Deb. Guess I'll have to hold up on my visit until you're bug free.
Feel better already!!!!! And yes I love the new kitchen art soooo much!
I LOVE your “new” kitchen artwork- very light, bright, and springy! You could keep this one up for 1/2 the year, and then swap it with the other one for fall/winter! Both are fantastic!
Sorry you are down and feeling crummy! Hope it passes quickly and you feel better soon!
Real pretty Christmas quilt. Hope you're feeling better.
