The Minnesota Catholic school shooter has been identifies as 20 year old Robin Westman. On his gun and gun magazines, were written anti-Black, anti-Hispanic and anti-Semitic messages, such as ''6 million wasn't enough''. He is NOT an immigrant, his is NOT Antifa, he is NOT ISIS, he's yet another WHITE nationalist, home grown terrorist....like almost all of the others.

Michael headed out on Saturday morning (8/23) for what he thought was an 8 AM tee time….turns out it is really for 8:20 tomorrow (Sunday)!! He decided to stay and practice for a bit.
I headed to the studio, determined to load up another quilt:

I had forgotten about this QoV pattern and I really like it…..of course that makes me want to do another one! I’m really feeling like I’m on a roll with quilting and finishing…..if I get one bound before Thursday…that will be the 5th week in a row I’ll have something for show and tell!!! I only take my stuff in when it is totally finished….so I will be pretty proud of that streak of finishing 5 quilts in 5 weeks!
I worked on quilting that during the day, and also started something new. My students on the Chandelier quilt kept asking me about changing colors on the quilt, so I decided to show them an extreme example of what they could potentially do:

I taught the first part of this class a couple of weeks ago…and this was the example:

I had so many questions from my students about what they were ‘’allowed’’ to do with their quilts....and with the background.....that I decided the best way to show them how different it could look was to make a new one! Also, my original quilt was a QoV size…and I needed to figure out the cutting directions for a dialysis size….so that’s what I was working on for a lot of the day.

Michael headed out for his ‘’correct’’ golfing tee time on Sunday (8/24) and I spent a bit of time in the kitchen….first making 5 more containers of yoghurt for him…then finally harvesting my basil (hopefully this is just the first harvest):

That took just over an hour and I got 5 containers of pesto:

ready for the freezer.
After that I headed to the studio to continue quilting on the QoV and sewing on the new chandelier quilt.
Iris came over around 12:30 and she picked out a few embroideries for new dresses for the girls, and we also worked on fusing more of the applique onto the quilts:

She left around 4 and I headed back to the studio to continue working on the new chandelier, as I had finished the QoV quilting while she was looking at embroideries:

I got several rows put up on the design wall before stopping for the night.

Michael showed me how to play a ‘’short’’ game of cribbage (which, as seems to be the norm, he won!)

I was up early on Monday (8/25) with lots on my mind to get done. First up was finishing the layout of the inside of the new chandelier quilt:

Then I tried once again to get a blog entry out….I’ve been getting an error for a couple of days….2 hours later, after being on the phone with WIX, I finally got it published!
Then I made black binding and started to put it on a recently trimmed quilt….and by dinnertime, it was another totally finished quilt: (yes…I LOVE those words…and I’ve been saying them a lot :~)

Michael and I had pizza from Harris Teeter for dinner and just relaxed and watched TV for the rest of the evening.

We left early Tuesday morning (8/26) for a routine, yearly dermatology appointment in Pineville. For the first time I was told I had sun damage and pre-cancerous spots to be burned off of my face….yow!!! My face was on fire for a couple of hours!
Once home, I got peanut butter cookies baked before heading over to Pam’s for our monthly Fiber Nutz meeting. Pam put out a wonderful spread (as she always does) but appreciated the addition of the cookies, and a chocolate polenta cake from Kathy. We had a wonderful 3-1/2 hours discussing all sorts of things….with a bit of show and tell thrown in….Melanie is such a wonderful painter, that I think these really look like photographs:

-and she was also working on a jacket

I was home before 5 PM and got to chat with my honey before Iris arrived…..Darn it! I meant to take pictures…and of course I forgot. Oh well….Iris came early because we had a gift for her and the family….a wonderful LITTLE MERMAID book from Robert Sabuda. I do not remember who told me about him, but he is a renowned American children's pop-up book artist and paper engineer, celebrated for his innovative designs and contributions to children's literature. These books are just incredible…as a matter of fact, when Iris took the book home to show hubby Mario, she said he ‘’jumped back’’ as she opened the pages and the illustrations rose up from the pages! She thinks her kids will go crazy for it….I hope so!
Michael left for the movies after that and Iris stayed for an hour or so before leaving for home.

Michael borrowed my car Wednesday morning (8/27) to pick up 3 other guys for golfing at THE DIVIDE. They were only going to play 9 holes, then head out for breakfast together. I did a video chat with Janice in the morning, then started to put the setting triangles in my new chandelier quilt and get the rows put together:

That took the rest of the day.
We decided to go to METRO DINER for dinner and both had AWESOME fish and chips:

And 10 years ago.....
*** You can tell a lot about a woman by her hands....for example, if they're around your throat, she's probably upset! ***
*** I'm at the point in my life where running errands counts as going out. ***
*** Denial....anger....bargaining...acceptance.....the 5 stages of waking up! ***
Love that jacket. What kind of paint did she use?
Melanie is an incredible artist!
Melanie's artwork and jacket are simply stunning! I really love your new chandelier quilt color scheme. It looks very 'fallish'. The fish and chips look great too!
Love you and your blog!!!!
