And so it begins…the day I like the very least in the calendar year….the shortest day of the year….the Sunday that seems to go by in a flash! I wish they would stop this fooling around and cancel changing the time back and forth!
Anyway, it was 25 degrees when we got up on Sunday (3/13)…what the heck is going on???? I thought we moved to the south??? It’s almost the middle of March…..it should be warmer. OK...I guess that's the end of my complaining :~)
My honey made me breakfast, after which I headed to the studio to continue loading and basting my customer quilt. I am totally jealous of Sandy D and this quilt…this is the pattern I have been DYING to start….but told myself I had to finish a few things first! I think I will at least cut a bit of my fabric for this pattern today! I have found what I think are the perfect fabrics in my stash:
I only have a yard of that multi-colored batik, that I found in a donated box and just HAD to keep!
I finished loading my customer quilt:
and got the bobbins wound and the pattern set up, but by then it was late afternoon and I decided to work on my own quilt top as I don't like to work on customer quilts (especially just starting them) when I am tired :~).
It took me quite awhile to figure out what size I wanted my blocks to be (I thought if I cut the squares too small, I would miss all of the color variation in the batik), and what the most effective use of my fabric would be, and that included a call to Janice to check my quilt math…but finally I was done and cut just a few strips before heading up for dinner.
We had leftover Mexican Chicken Soup again for dinner and exercised our brains by watching BRAIN GAMES for the rest of the night!
BG pulled out a UFO and is getting the top complete (those are all embroideries in the white squares):
One of my QoV’s was given out at our local VFW group:
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AND !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! much excitement in Arizona!!!!!!!! Arizona Mary & Jan H have bought a longarm:
Isn't that incredible?!?!?! I'm sure they will get many, many hours of joy out of it!
*** My ability to remember song lyrics from the 50’s and 60’s far exceeds my ability to remember why I walked into the kitchen. ***
Great job BG!!!
Love your fabrics for the Sandy D's quilt ! What color was her background - white or ivory ?
Nice pics of QOV and BG's embroideries. Congrats to Arizona M and Jan H !
