It was another gloriously cool morning when we got up on Saturday (9/4). Michael headed out to play golf while I got a new recipe of lemon bars in the oven (thanks, Susie!!):
(Just ignore that little missing square...ok :~)
Once they were out I headed to the studio to get the giraffe quilt cleaned up and off of Xena, and get the second (slightly larger) giraffe quilt loaded and basted:
My honey was home shortly after 1 PM, with 2 birdies…but a bad score because he was thinking about too many things and couldn’t concentrate :~(.
I got the new program set up and kicked off the quilting:
I really like this stippling pattern….when I first started quilting that was the only pattern I ever picked….I’m glad I finally branched out from that. Pat called in the early afternoon to discuss some Fiber Floozie retreat stuff...and she could tell I sounded stressed. I told her my sewing tables were out of control and it was making me cranky....
so I worked a bit on cleaning that up after we hung up. I worked on the quilt all afternoon (while continuing to make my HST’s for the squiggle quilt….6 colors times 5 squares for 8-at-a-time HST's equals 240HST’s!!), but when I tried to save my program before dinner, my computer got hung up. I kept checking it every 15 minutes…and I think I finally got the program saved….I'll find out tomorrow when I boot it up again.
We had our French bread pizzas again for dinner….I know other people make French bread pizzas, but to buy a regular baguette is way too much bread. I am glad ALDI’s has these really skinny baguettes:
so that by the time you slice them lengthwise, you only have 1/2 – 3/4 of an inch of bread as your base.
Here's the tutorial again.....they're SO VERY GOOD:
-slice the baguettes in half lengthwise and spread with pesto
-layer with fresh tomatoes...and in Michael's case a few sauteed mushrooms
-some mozarella
-a quick trip in the toaster oven (14 minutes at 350 degrees on greased pan), and then a yummy drizzle of balsamic vinegar...As Rachel Ray would say....YUMM-O!!
We settled in after dinner and while I ironed and trimmed a bunch of my HST’s, we started to watch UNFORGOTTEN from PBS.
*** Tonight I tried cooking with wine. After 5 glasses I couldn't remember why I was even in the kitchen! ***
Dennis and I just finished watching UNFORGOTTEN. Let me know when you finish so we can discuss....
