The cost of building a new hospital is about $100 million.
We're dropping the equivalent of 10 hospitals a day on Iran.
tRUMP decided this war was a better use of taxpayer money than giving American's healthcare.
IT'S NOT! (Adam Schiff)
AND (no surprise here)....tRUMP continues to make false and unproven claims about the war in Iran. (See full article here:Fact check: Trump’s barrage of false or unproven claims about the Iran war - AOL

Thanks to all for the quilt naming suggestions. I wanted it to be something not really related to cork.....more of a generic name for the pattern as I am SURE I'll make it again as I LOVE it, and will probably use some other sashing. I think I've finally settled on ''16 Patch Cornerstone'', since that's what the 4 patches are in the strip sashing.

I was up early Saturday morning (3/14) hoping to make a lot of progress on Diane’s quilt…I got it loaded:

and got bobbins wound and set up the program and kicked it off:

Since I finished off my HST quilt….and am getting close on Crossroads, I decided to look through my new patterns to see what to start next. I found one I really liked, but didn’t like the block size much…lots of cutting at 1/4'' and 3/4 ‘’…not a normal size, which means it will be easy for me to make a mistake in my cutting. So, I spent a couple of hours trying to revise the block and finally got one block cut out and pieced together to see if my new directions work:

The rest of the day was spent watching Diane’s quilt…I had hoped to get it finished, but was only 3/4 of the way through when I quit for dinner…it was time though as we didn’t end up eating until almost 8!!!!
I made homemade pizza….which I haven’t made in forever, but had a new dough recipe I wanted to try. Michael said it was excellent:

but I want to make a few more tweaks to the recipe and try it again soon!

Michael booked some sort of surprise social event for Sunday afternoon (3/15) quite some time ago and it was exciting and mysterious to get dressed up and head into Charlotte at NOON, as he wanted to keep it a surprise for me. It turns out we headed to the Halton Theatre to see a performance of Carmina Burana (a choral piece I sang in college), but what a performance it was….an adult chorus, a children’s chorus, an orchestra, soloists, dancers and ariel performers:

There was a short lecture before the performance and I found out lots of things I never knew…the speaker was the head of the music department at Central Piedmont College and he was certainly knowledgeable and interesting. The performance was unbelievable….with the choreography cued to the singing…and even Michael got choked up at the end, due to the story we heard at the beginning lecture! What a very lovely and welcome surprise for me...my honey is just the best!
We made a smart decision on the way home and cruised by the surgery center where we will be at O’dark hundred Monday morning and that allowed us to find a lovely way home….far from the highway traffic.
We decided to split an order of shrimp tempura from Red Bowl for dinner and I made sure I got my knitting in a good place to be easily done while waiting for his surgery.

We were up at 3:15 AM on Monday morning (3/16) to get to the surgery center in time for Michael’s pacemaker battery replacement. What made the appointment particularly stressful is we got multiple emails and texts in the weeks beforehand….telling us to go to 2 different places at 2 different times! They really need to get their act together, as each time something was received, Michael had to call (and of course, get a call back!) to verify. As late as Sunday (the day before the procedure) he got a text tell us to go to the wrong place at the wrong time!!! BUT, it all worked out and we were home (after a stop out for breakfast) around 10:30 AM when we both promptly took a long nap.
When I got up I worked on Diane’s quilt, determined to finish the quilting and by dinnertime, I was done (YAY – 4 down, 3 to go on my list :~).
We had leftover homemade pizza for dinner and Michael remarked again about how good it was :~).

I hopped up early on Tuesday morning (3/17) to put the finishing touches on our taxes and got the bundle all together for drop off at Rob’s sometime today. After that it was weaving in the ends on Diane’s quilt and getting it off of the frame and trimmed. I was almost finished with trimming when Iris showed up for her lesson:

All of her applique blocks are already done:

(she is a whiz….I don’t know how she does it with 2 kids, a husband and a full time job!!!), but she needs to make the components for her pieced block. She needs to make square-in-a-square blocks first, and I wanted to make sure she knew what to do before she left, so that is what we worked on after she finished cutting:

I got my 5th quilt loaded up while she was here:

She left around NOON and I was starving, so I stopped for breakfast. I still had some sausage gravy left….but it didn’t taste right on plain toast, so I nuked a potato and spooned it over half of that….YUMM-O! That hit the spot.
I ran to the CPA after that to turn in our taxes, and read my book for just a bit before finally getting to start quilting around 2:30:

My personal trainer arrived at 3:15 (we had to change our appointment twice), so 2 quilt customers ended up stopping by while he was here. He worked me like a dog….I have new balance exercises and I was back to quilting at 5 PM.
