Pancakes, Stair Step quilts quilted, cookies for Rich

Writer's picture: dreamsoapsdreamsoaps

Pancakes and bacon were on the menu for Sunday morning (2/2):

then I headed to the studio….totally excited to load up fleece for 2 dialysis quilts of mine.  I got a label embroidered on the front of the first one and got it loaded up:

and kicked off the quilting:

I worked on that all day, and only had 1-1/2 rows to finish on Monday.  I also got the outer border put on the second stair step quilt:

I love this pattern as you can easily make 2 dialysis quilts out of 1 jelly roll, just by adding 4 strips from your stash and some borders.

I hopped up on Monday (2/3) hoping to get a lot done on Xena.  I finished off the last 1-1/2 rows on my first stair step quilt: and got the label on the front of the second stair step quilt:

Then I loaded it up on XENA (you know...I try to only leave about an inch between the first and second quilt):

and got it going with a different pattern:

I spent a bit of time after that cutting binding strips for the 2 quilts, as well as binding strips from the new blue-ish fabric that matched my green/blue quilt.  I put those in my box for Thursday quilting, then started to cut strips for a new Beds=Dreams quilt that will become my Thursday project until I have all of my blocks made.

I only got about 40% of my quilting done when I stopped to SKYPE with BG…..QUAP is only 2 months away….and we were both stressing a bit about only having 1 – 2 projects ready so far…and having no idea what else we want to do!!!  We talked over a few things and decided we’d better start looking at our patterns to see if anything excites us!

Tuesday (2/4) was more of the same….quilting on the second stair step quilt….and cutting strips for a new Beds=Dreams quilt to be my ‘’Thursday project’’:

I did manage to spend a bit of time in the kitchen, putting together some cookies for Michael to take to his Mustang dinner meeting:

Rich attends these meetings and at the Mustang picnic we went to over the summer, he spent HOURS putting the stripes on Michael’s hood….I have wanted to thank him ever since…and finally got my baking shoes on and got that done.  It was a gorgeous day, so after I got done baking, Michael and I and ‘’the kids’’ (Ethel was over on the dog bed):

sat out on the lanair for awhile reading.  I was finally downstairs again around 4:30 and got my 2 stair step quilts off of Xena and packed up to be trimmed at quilting.

Michael (and the cookies) took off just after 5 PM and I continued to cut strips for a bit longer before heading upstairs for dinner and some knitting.  I got pictures texted to me in the evening….Rich was THRILLED with his thank you:

and I was glad to have that off of my plate as I have been thinking about it for far too long without doing something about it!

And 10 years ago.... (Pam S - check out my honey in the first one....)

Love your two dialysis quilts! Also, the chocolate chip cookies look fabulous! My e-mail is finally working again with the much-needed help of our niece, Jennifer. I've been missing your blog.
