Pasta Salad, Ethel, gas housers

The Trump administration plans to destroy nearly $10 million worth of contraceptives that were procured by USAID rather than deliver the supplies to women in need overseas. The contraceptives, which are mostly long-lasting types of birth control such as IUDs and injectables, are currently stored in a warehouse in Belgium. The “preliminary decision” to destroy the family-planning supplies was confirmed by a State Department spokesperson. Doing so will cost $167,000. “They have to double incinerate the products because they contain high levels of hormones and they don’t want to risk leaking the byproducts out in the environment, which likely adds to the cost,” a congressional aide told CNN. “The Trump administration is quite literally burning taxpayer money.”

PLUS - 1 billion on an airplane none of us will ever fly on and 200 million for a ballroom none of us will ever dine in, but we ''can't afford'' to feed hungry kids. Color me DISGUSTED!!

My honey woke up with a lot of stomach distress on Friday morning (7/25) so he was stuck at home, and I had a PT appointment.  I finally got back to Pam’s first quilt when I got home, and by dinnertime, I was done:

I got it off of the frame and all tidied up so that I could get her second quilt loaded on Saturday. And I also got the binding made for a QoV:

My honey and I were both up early Saturday (7/26).  He needed some work done on his car, then he headed off to another car show at the Mustang Museum.

I spent the morning in the kitchen…making pasta salad (with ham/cheese/carrots/broccoli & tomatoes):

and rolls for dinner:

and regular sandwich bread:

I couldn't even make my regular 2 loaves as I was OUT of flour…. comme c'est horrible!!!

In the afternoon I hit the studio and got Pam’s second quilt loaded up:

ree

and set up her program before heading back to the kitchen for a little more prep work.

Michael and I had quick showers before getting ready for our guests who showed up at 6 PM with pico de gallo and dessert:

We tucked into the pasta salad, tomato pie:

and rolls:

before playing Telestrations for the rest of the evening:

Ethel had to get in on the action.....Chris brought a soft sided cooler with him, and Ethel spent the night there:

Everyone left around 10:30 and after a bit of cleaning up the kitchen and reading, we got to bed just before mid-night.

Since we had fresh bread, my honey had gas housers Sunday morning (7/27):

I got several rows done before Susan came over for lunch.  We sat in the kitchen and talked and talked and talked!!!!  It was lovely…..we haven’t done that in forever.  Eventually she headed for home (after giving me a lovely birthday gift of different teas and a non-blood sugar raising sugar) and I got one more row done on Pam’s quilt before pasta salad for dinner and snuggling with my honey in front of the TV.
