Michael headed out for PT (for his knee) early Tuesday morning (1/17) while I got my blog out and had a nice conversation with Mary Lee before basting Sandy’s second quilt:
By the time I got done, it was time to leave for our Fiber Nutz meeting:
It was a terrific meeting and Pam explained that we were going to focus on our fiber roots…Carol (our hostess) had many, many of her tools out for inspection:
and gave us a wonderful explanation of her fiber journey, complete with antiques she has picked up along the way.
I got home and had a quick dinner before my honey left for the movies….and Kristin came over. So, I certainly know what it is like to be at the end of my rope with a project…whether it is a quilting project that has just gone wrong from the beginning, or a knitting project, or cleaning out my house before moving…or whatever. You have so many negative feelings towards the project that you just can’t face it anymore. There have been a few times in my life where a friend stepped up to help with or complete my project. And it was not that hard for them, as they didn’t have all of the prior negative feelings built up. I think that was the situation that Kristin found herself in. She took in a slightly ‘’started’’ t-shirt quilt on commission, and had nothing but problems with it. Lots of clothes came with it that the customer wanted included as quilt type blocks…not to mention it ended up being HUGE (93’’ by 93’’), and Kristin (in my opinion) vastly undercharged for this project. By the time she got to the binding stage, she just couldn’t face it any longer. She knew I had someone who had done hand binding for me in the past, and asked if that person would be willing to do it. I explored that option, as well as another, but nothing panned out….so I decided I needed to be the friend that stepped up and took this burden off of her shoulders. I myself am not fond of binding in any way, but I thought of the times I have taken quilts-to-be-bound on my trips to visit Janice…and how it didn’t seem a burden at all, as we sit there and talk and laugh while we are working. So, I asked Kristin to come over Tuesday evening, and told her we would talk and drink and laugh and knock this thing out. I didn’t know if I could get all of the binding done in the evening, but I was certainly willing to give it the old college try. Well, whether she got extra energy, or just the thought of help made it better, but by the time Kristin arrived, she had sewn the binding on the first side of the quilt…and fused it down on the second!!! We sat at the kitchen table and set to work…and it took only an HOUR to finish it off!!! I took my big eyed needle and wove the ends in so that it was totally done, and it was like the weight of the world was off of her shoulders…and I felt wonderful as well. We spent another hour just talking and bonding, and I was so grateful that I was able to do that for her…and it was fun!!! Guess we both learned something that night!

I spent Wednesday morning (1/18) SKYPE-ing with Janice before having a quick breakfast and a quick shower and heading off for my mammogram appointment. I’m glad I am done with my diagnostic mammograms, which had to take place every 6 months for 2 years and had to occur over at the hospital in Pineville and am hoping that I can just go yearly from now on, to a place much closer to home. I also had a bone density test scheduled an hour and a half later, so I just took my knitting and got stuff done in the waiting room in between. While I was gone, my honey continued to work on my OBW:
When I got home, I started a new library book and threw a quick chocolate cake in the oven (I can literally mix this one up in 10 minutes flat!!)
before Ed and Carol picked us up for dinner at THAT”S AMORE. We had a wonderful time talking and the food was excellent! Michael and I split bacon wrapped scallops with peaches for an appetizer:
and then he had lasagna:
while I had chicken francais:
Ed had had a colonoscopy in the morning that had unexpectedly really thrown him for a loop, so they didn’t join us after dinner for chocolate cake…but it was yummy!
And in a STUNNING reversal of events….Pat has now decided she IS a quilter…and has come up with this:
Isn't it fabulous???? With all of her Kaffe fabric!
*** I guess creamation is my last chance for a smokin' hot body!! ***
*** 95% of electric vehicles are still on the road….the remaining 5% made it all the way home. ***
Yea Pat, it’s beautiful
Yay Pat !!
And how nice of the Binding Fairy to help a friend !!
I'm Glad Pat finally admitted it! Lol
