Pat visits, Teal Splendor grows, Diane visit for breakfast, Leila's quilt started

Michael and I were up and out early on Friday (6/7) for NATIONAL DONUT DAY!!!  We headed to SWEET DOUGH in Fort Mill and came home with a variety of goodies….then spent a leisurely hour or so at the breakfast table, having breakfast and reading.

I got some laundry thrown in and read my book a bit, waiting for Pat to stop by for a visit:

Check this out:

notice her right arm???  That’s not dirt…that’s a BRUISE!!!!   An errant softball got through her glove and hit her ungloved hand…..yikes!!!  We had a lovely visit, and she shared the news that George will be having a bit of surgery on July 5th.  I would appreciate it if you would mark the date and add them both to your prayer lists around that time and for at least a week afterwards to make sure everything is healing A-OK!

I headed to the studio in the early afternoon and decided to concentrate on Teal Splendor…and by dinnertime, I had 2 more columns done:

And remember the sunflower I took a picture of, with Michael for perspective? I think it was 3 - 4 inches shorter than he is:

Well, 4 days later I'm taking other pictures 'cause it's now at least 2 inches taller than he is:

Michael and I were both up early Saturday morning (6/8)…he had an early morning tee time, and I wanted to get Leila’s quilt basted:

before Diane showed up for breakfast:

Diane offered to swing by Biscuitville to pick up breakfast, but I said ''you know what? I have 2 containers of sausage gravey in the freezer, AND I still have the biscuit mix I got from June as a Christmas gift'' so that's what I made:

Diane and I talked and talked and talked and talked!!!!  And Freya was good as gold the entire time Diane was here:

I think we got everything solved :~), and when she left in the early afternoon, I headed to the studio to set up the Leila’s pattern and start quilting….first I had to buy the pattern we agreed on and down load it and then load it into my computer…but finally I was ready:

While it was stitching out, I dropped back to Teal Splendor….I’ve started taking blocks from the right-hand side, to complete the left hand columns:

maybe I’ll see if I can get 12 columns out of what I have already cut and made, instead of 14 columns.  I think 12 columns would get me to around 99’’ wide, and it would not be hard to put 10’’ or so borders on either side to get to the 120’’ I think I want.  I still have to re-measure our bed and think about longarm shrinkage and laundry shrinkage to determine exactly how wide and how long I want the quilt to be.  Of course, as I said to BG when we SKYPE-d Friday afternoon….I’m not sure why I’m resisting making more strata since I have BEAU COUP of each of these fabrics left!!!!

BG and I had seen and rejected a number of patterns before we finally settled on Mirror/Mirror….maybe I’ll have to make one of the ones we rejected :~).

Why did you just try singing the two songs above? ***

Like you new quilting pattern for Leila's quilt. Do you still have that Cheese It recipe you made 10 years ago? Sounds good and easy.
