Michael was up and out early Monday (8/9) for golfing at Charlotte National. I was moving more slowly (having stayed up late the evening before), but finally my emails were done and I got my blog out before 10 AM.
Michael had helped me to put up 1/2 of my Christmas quilt on the design wall again so that I could see what still needed to be done. If you look at the left side (and you can see the second half of the rows draped over the chair):
you can see that I need a border to complete the stars. I got the border re-sewn together and re-stitched all of the seams I had to rip out on the quilt to get the border off before Loree arrived around 11:30.
Paula picked us up and we headed to Inspiration Ministries to try the chicken salad in their café. Paula had heard rave reviews about it from some of her friends and I must say that it was pretty good….except for the fact that the chicken seemed to still be partially frozen! We got home after 1 PM and Loree came in for a bite of pound cake. She said the flavor was good, but as to be expected after my screw-ups with baking times and temperatures, the texture was not all it could be.
I read my book after she left until my honey came home around 3 PM, with a score of 87 and the beginning of another birdie streak. After that I headed downstairs (with Lucy as compary):
and got the border re-sewn on the top half of the Christmas quilt.
And now….some exciting news!!! The same people who brought you the information that ARBY’s has the best fish sandwich locally, have decided to take on…..PIZZA!!! We are looking at Harris Teeter, Marco’s, Pizza Hut, Papa John’s and Dominos. We have our spreadsheets all made, comparing the crust, the sauce, flavor, etc and printed out. So, at 6 PM, Michael headed up to Harris Teeter to pick up our cheese pizza (the only real way to test is without a lot of extraneous toppings cluttering up your taste buds).
I gave it a respectable 18 out of 25 (they definitely lost points on toppings going out close to the edge of the pizza)….I think Michael’s score was a bit lower.
*** MMR – Michael’s Movie Reviews ***
Stillwater, stars Matt Damon, very loosely based on the true story of Amanda Knox , accused , convicted then exonerated of the murder of her roommate. This retelling is set in France instead of Italy . It follows the father, Billy, Matt Damon, as he tries to undo the wrong he believes that has been done to his daughter. Billy is at a loss in a foreign country, befriends a French woman and child who help him navigate the French legal system. In the end Billy acts rashly and causes a series of problems that don’t really help his daughter and puts himself into jeopardy! It’s an understated performance by Damon and quite the twisted ending to the movie! Fine performances by everyone.
I give it 4 fat quarters our ot 5.
Instead of my usual joke at the end….I thought maybe these would give you all a laugh:
Here are the top nine comments made by NBC sports commentators during Summer Olympics that they would like to take back:

7. At the rowing medal ceremony: "Ah, isn't that nice, the wife of the IOC president is hugging the cox of the British crew."
8. Soccer commentator: "Julian Dicks is everywhere. It's like they've got eleven Dicks on the field."
