We had a leisurely morning on Sunday (9/19), but finally around 10 AM I headed to the studio to try to get out 2 days worth of blogs. I got the blog out and since we have no baking planned until dinner, I decided I could get a little cutting done.
When Janice visited last I told her that as soon as the squiggle quilt was done, this was the quilt I was going to do:
THEN, she showed me how to use the ESSENTIAL TRIANGLE TOOL for half square triangles (HST’s) and those plans went out the window. I dragged this quilt picture back out…determined to make a start on it:
Remember...this is what my self made pattern looked like:
I was a bit disappointed because I hadn’t found any gray fabric at FOUST (which was the only color I was lacking), but figured I could get at least some of the HST’s completed. Then Janice was packing up to go the last time she was here…and lifted up a few things on my sewing table to make sure she wasn’t leaving anything behind. OMgoodness!!!! The minute I saw this fabric (which I had TOTALLY FORGOTTEN that I had bought!!)
I remembered buying it on the way to QUAP earlier this year….WHOO HOO!!! Now I have everything I need to do the ‘’woven’’ looking quilt. So I started to cut my strips and triangles:
and in about half an hour had 16 perfect 4-1/2'' unfinished HST’s done:
While I was working, Lucy was once again emjoying the newly recovered ironing board:
While Ethel was camoflauged on the chair:
I headed upstairs and had a few strawberries before Anne showed up and off to the Fort Mill Community Playhouse we went.
Connie met us there for the last production of I LOVE YOU, YOU’RE PERFECT, NOW CHANGE:
Michael and I had seen this same production in Lancaster about 13 years ago…but didn’t remember it at all…and it was hysterical! We laughed and laughed and the cast was truly brilliant!
When we got home, Connie came in to get a few samples of desserts…and ended up staying for dinner:
Our baking for today? Something Inez indicated she wanted to make:
Yep, popovers….we kept it a secret from Michael until they were baked…and he was thrilled…they are his favorite!
We talked and talked for a long time before Connie finally headed for home and Inez and I retired to the living room to put our feet up.
And Janice has more fish from Paula’s bog-o-scraps:
*** Remember when we were little and had underwear with the days of the week on them? Yeah….those would be super helpful right now. ***
*** I don’t usually brag about going to expensive places…but I just left the gas station. ***
Love the fish design!!!! And the popovers!
What other colors are in the woven quilt you started ? Looks fun - can't wait to see it done.
Popovers.... YUMM !
