Sandwich bread

Michael left just before 8 AM for golf on Saturday (6/24) and I spent several hours on the computer. I got my blog out, but then I spent a lot of time trying to figure out what project I want to start next. I still have a lot of HST’s to do for another WALK ABOUT, but after that I get to start a new project. I found some that I liked, and took pictures of them so that I can noodle around in my brain to see which one is striking my fancy. Paula came down in the morning to drop off a quilt, and after she left I put together sandwich bread dough:

before getting back to the studio to complete another set up HST’s.

My honey came home after a slog through the course (it was cart path only), with a happy attitude because he got 2 birdies! I got the bread shaped and back into the microwave for a second rise:

I really dodged a bullet with this bread. Once it was formed into loaves, I put it in the mircrowave (just a convenient place for it to rise) for the regular 45 minutes that I generally wait...totally forgetting that it is summertime, and MUCH warmer in the house than when I make bread in the winter. Well, it over-rose big time, and I was very afraid it would collapse (which is what happens when you let your shaped bread rise too much), so I breathed a huge sigh of relief when it came out of the oven looking like this:

Look at that back loaf....it is only supposed to be 1'' to 1-1/2'' over the lip of the pan.....but it's more like 3''!!! We're going to have trouble fitting it in the bread slicer. Michael ran half a loaf down to our neighbors.

Around dinnertime I started to load up Paula’s backing:

but a friend stopped by with some happy news (that I’m not at liberty to share just yet) and ended up staying for over 4 hours until almost 10 PM!!!! They were hoping to catch us at home and not socializing.....and it all worked out. The 3 of us had a lovely time, sitting in the living room and talking.
