Sandy's latest quilt, chandelier quilt continues, new project with Iris

Thursday morning (2/20) was peaceful and heavenly.  Michael turned the fire on and we both sat in the living room, reading our books and enjoying the ambiance….I truly love those mornings together.

I finally finished a book on my kindle and headed to the studio to be a bit productive (quilting was cancelled for the day due to the threat of very inclement weather).

I got Sandy’s quilt loaded up:

and kicked off the quilting:

I had a few breakage problems in the beginning, but then they seemed to settle down.

While that was stitching out, I started to sew together my chandelier QoV:

Michael had a routine, follow-up doctor appointment Friday morning (2/21) and I spent a long time pulling together a blog entry before dropping back to Sandy’s quilt.  I spent the rest of the day doing that…quilting on Sandy’s quilt and working on my newest QoV and getting some setting triangles cut:

until 4 PM when I headed upstairs to bake more bread:

-and make Elephant Chicken Soup for dinner….so very yummy!!!!

We ate dinner while watching WALL-E….it was even better than I remembered.

Michael left for golf on Saturday (2/22), even though it wasn’t even 40 degrees outside!  Iris came over for a new project.  Many months ago, I ordered simple/plain dresses for her 2 girls, hoping to do some embroideries and sew them on.  For various reasons I decided this was a stupid idea and no one would like it (mostly based on my experience in our own family...and hearing from friends about their daughters-in-law and grandchildren).

Finally I decided that she would be honest with me and that I should just ask whether she liked the idea and thought the girls would wear the dresses…..she LOVED the idea and spent an hour looking through my embroideries and made a list of the ones she liked.

We managed to get one stitched out:

before it was time for her to head out and pick up her girls.  I can hardly want to see this project finished!

After she left, I fired up XENA, determined to finish the quilting on Sandy’s quilt…and by dinnertime I was done:
